Bio
.. .. .. .. Red Sails is on indefinite hiatus. We have had an incredible time playing together and are thankful for every note. Thanks to everyone for supporting us! .. .. Red Sails was/is Tom Tierney, Patrick Southern and Colin Fahrner (and sometimes Dan Pirello). The group was initially formed as a backing band for ..Tom Tierney..'s solo folk/punk project - playing the folk tunes in a more raw, noisy format. Red Sails brings to life the wilder face of Tierney's songwriting, which the Boston Globe has called "a mix of punk rock, pretty melodies, atypical composition, and gravelly voiced storytelling." .. .. Since forming, Red Sails has released an eponymous 5 song EP and the River Gods/Weathervane single and has performed extensively in New York and New England. .. .. Despite our hiatus, we're all still very busy playing music! Tom and Patrick play in a new band called Tidal Arms with Fran Mark of Warship. Colin and Dan now play in a band called Big Tree. Sounds Like
"A mix of punk rock, pretty melodies, atypical composition, and gravelly voiced storytelling." .. - ..The Boston Globe.... .. There must be something in the NYC water that is making the borough of Brooklyn a musical hotbed! Perhaps known as the Nor’ eastern equivalent of the Emerald City, the Big Apple has brought another young band to my attention who have more potential than Barack Obama and talent to boot... Great lyricism coupled with a vocal style that is like an unabridged Waits with more fervor. Red Sails could have a bright future, once they bounce outta their borough... - ..I Guess I'm Floating.... .. "Earnest, heroic songs.".. - ..The Wesleyan Argus.... .. "Tom Tierney has been turning heads for a few years, and his DIY ethic and attention to detail have allowed him and band mates Patrick Southern and Colin Fahrner to walk a tight line between raw theatrics and compositional prowess." - ..The Hippodrome....

Niall Connolly April 2nd 7pm- Biggest NYC gig yet We Need You.
Hey folks,
I am playing the beautiful new room at Rockwood Music Hall (Stage 2) on Saturday April 2nd at 7pm. This is a definite step up for me in terms of size and stature of the venue. I would really love to repay the Rockwood Music Hall for all their faith in me with a huge turnout of brilliant people. There's no cover charge, it's a short 45 minute gig with a 7pm sharp start. This is a big one and you helped me get it, I'd really love to see you there...

Michael will be singing songs from his up and coming album "The Orchard", which should be released some time in the summer to coincide with the release of the movie "This must be the place" staring Sean Penn.
Michael was fortunate enough to sing the songs in this movie. The score and songs were written by David Byrne . Lyrics by Will Oldham.
