Born via the Interweb during the Spring of 2004, Red Scare didn't actually become Red Scare until that September. Originally planned to be a Sigur Ros-like space rock band by the founding members Josh Deuink and Tim Gray, we eventually grew in size to five members. Our sound ended up being closer to indie rock initially, with hints of the darker art rock path we would take during our more recent period. For the moment we are scattered about, various members fulfilling their various obligations to society. Still, we may return soon, and be prepared to rock.
The recordings we have here were done over several days with lo-fi equipment and bootleg recording software (hence the dubious sound quality). The live stuff better captures the sauce.
The long awaited release from Connecticut College's finest, Spastic Nerdbag's new album Wookiee Rebellion is now available for download (in a .zip file that includes full lyric insert and origami CD case) at this link:
Hailing from all over the east coast, from Boston to DC, Spastic Nerdbag formed within the post-apocalyptic nuclear sludge of New London Connecticut.
A leak at the Millstone nuclear powerplant made its way into the water supply of Connecticut College, and the mutagen caused these thrash animals to become more human-like in intelligence and dexterity. The four brothers gained an affinity for Star Wars, Zombie movies, Skateboarding, and hardcore punk. The 20-something mutant ninjas picked up instruments (with the exception of Daniel, who hadn't gained quite enough human-like intelligence and dexterity) and created for you a solid 12 minutes of thrashtacular ripping to flip out to.
