Performing my tune "All's Fair" from scratch with a foot controller and
ableton live... Live looping - every layer is scratched, looped, and
built upon. All sounds taken from random records, & pressed onto
one vinyl:
This track even got props from the highly regarded music publication, Zoo!
Number one in their top 10 tracks to download!

My name's Tom, but most people i know call me Red. I love to make music. I've experimented with different music making techniques and methods throughout my life. When I was a kid, I played the drums a lot, wrote songs and made recordings with my brothers, Matt & John. I wrote using guitars, keyboards, whatever. Then I got into turntables, started making sample based music. I spent a year in the Bay Area, California, where I really got into scratching. I returned to England and started making more sample based music, focussing on the potential of the turntable as an instrument.
I formed a band called Full Fat where I use the turntable as a lead instrument with drums, guitar, and synths. Check the video below for an exclusive phone camera video of the band's recent Radio 1 session:
4 versions of Seen - The original all-from-scratch version,
a Kids In Tracksuits remix, my 128bpm Playsatan jam,
& a Full Fat version - the band's first release.
My debut album. 11 tracks, nearly half of which are created
entirely by scratching. Here's what people are saying about it:
"Multi talented, multi-instrumentalist Red has come up
with a selection of delights on his debut album." Bandidge.com
(full review is great)
"Red takes the noble art of turntablism to new heights…
But best of all, he's innovative without being too precious about it." - The Independent Review
"The shuffling breaks and jazzy atmosphere of tracks such
as Simmer are expertly constucted" - Q Magazine
"First rate Hip Hop Jams on this debut from turntable whizz kid Red,
which is guaranteed to see him elevate to the next level... Set to be massive" - Knowledge magazine
"Red is rewriting the rule book for performing hip hop live... The album,
it must be said, is brilliant." - London Tour Dates
"A nice blend of instrumental beats and tracks made entirely from scratches,
like the excellent Samba Scratch." Hip Hop Connection
"This intricate album is a must for those that are inquisitive about the craft of
music making and hip hop production in particular." M8 Magazine
"Often these albums come down to the power of the mantra and the skill of the crate digging. Red possesses all of these and a whole lot more." Echoes Magazine, Hip Hop Album of the Month.
No worries man, I know you must be quite busy with the album & all the stuff around ^^
