Red Tape Entertainment is an independent hip-hop label that was established by The Optimen in their hometown of Brisbane in 2002. Initially the label was set up in order to independently release their debut album, Boomtown, but has since expanded to include the likes of battle-rap barbarian, Balboa, and up and coming crew to keep your ears open to, Pure Product.
A keystone to the operation of Red Tape was to limit the artist roster to am absolute minimum; ensuring the often illusive aim of quality over quantity is maintained.
While only still in its infancy, Red Tape has fast become a nationally respected label for its commitment to ensuring only the best quality is put out and made available to the listener. With an unspoken motto to make music by the real hip-hop heads for the real hip-hop heads (letting whatever spills over spill over), Red Tape is uncompromising in delivering this promise: no sell-out.
The second full-length release for the label is Red Tape Renegades: Vol. 1, presented and including exclusive production by The Optimen and featuring the entire Red Tape Entertainment roster: The Optimen (Sammsonite, DATS, K-west
and DJ Damage), Balboa, Pure Product (Marvel, Tendancee, 4th Degree and DJ Butcher), and featuring guests Anonymouz (Canada), KingsKonekted and DJ Boe. Over 13 tracks and somewhere over 45 minutes in running time, this release is more than just a showcase for the label - it's the shape of things to come in quality Australian hip-hop. Blaow!

Eloquence and Truths have had a meteoric rise through the ranks having played and toured with the likes of Funkoars, Drapht, Muph n Plutonic and more, they are set to rock the spot in a major way. The Lowdown are set to bring the house down at The Joynt once again Friday September 4. This a free entry event and judging from the last couple of shows TLD have done there you best arrive early and in the mood to groove. Music will kick off at 9 with Nicole Mcintyre doing a mellow set of acoustic tunes to ease you into the night. The Lowdown will take the stage around 10 and will be playing an extended set encompassing some new material, freestyles and improvised jams.
Don't miss this as it will be a night to bne remembered.
