Redwire, a 4-piece rock act from Roehampton University, South West London, fuse together elements of classic and hard rock … with melodic influences from modern indie … and highly charged 80s punk.
The band have recently finished production on their debut EP: “Buildups & Breakdowns”. Five varying songs based on songwriter Jack Lewis’ social experiences and observations ranging from “Faces in the Sand”; an upbeat & catchy rock song inspired by psychedelia and the connotations thereof; to “Modern Girls”; a bouncy number detailing the phenomena that is understanding the female mind; to the final song on the EP that is “Everything Breaks”; a punchy song with influences from the classic rock acts of years gone by, depicting the feelings of loss and sadness when a close-knit circle of friends parted.
Since taking to the stage in early 2009 Redwire have pushed musical and stylistic boundaries. Energetic and well-synchronised performances have paid dividends: the group has a growing band of faithful followers. As the group progress and mature, they have discovered no credo carved in stone: writing and playing music they enjoy is the name of their game, and if that busts a few earlier theories – even their own – so be it! The forthcoming album’s instrumental track, "The Intro Song", invokes early U2 and R.E.M., while an experimental cover of Daft Punk’s "Aerodynamic" shows the band in ‘hair down’ musical mode.
Redwire are crying out to play on a larger stage, and it’s fair to say that music and performing course through the veins of every member of the band.
