Reed Robins - composer, other musician contributors
Influences
My present influences include such diverse things as Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Jaco Pastorius, Oscar Peterson, Chick Corea, media composers Andy Brick and Elliot Goldenthal, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Xenakis, The Beatles, and traditional world and ethnic music.
My basic approach is to combine sounds from all over the globe and all through the ages in a way that fuses modern rhythm and attitude with compositional craft to create music that has polyphonic, harmonic and experiential depth.

Part mad scientist, part loving alchemist, equal parts guitar hero/symphonist/jazz pianist, plugged in and unplugged.....composer/musician/producer/music director/recording engineer Reed Robins has composed and created for almost every conceivable ensemble and in every imaginable style over the course of his years creating music.
"I'm creating music for those who are unconstrained by the usual boundaries of style. I have enormous respect for groups, or ensembles, or people who do one thing, do it well, and refine that thing throughout a career, but I'm way too much of a Gemini for that", he quips.
"More than a style or genre, I have a specific kind of listener I create for. That listener is not necessarily a professional musician, but is a devout lover of music. They are the kind of person who take joy in all kinds of music, and have strong likes and dislikes based on the quality of the music, not the style. Many of my personal friends fall into that category."
Imagine Jimi Hendrix and Igor Stravinsky jamming with Chick Corea...
Robins relates - "listen, I did a jazz piano CD, I did synth based theater stuff, I did a symphonic thriller film score, game music, I did a rock thing, etc. - I just can't stay in one place for long, yet there's still a thread that remains. This is for active listening, this music is not for everybody -- and fortunately for Ms. Brittany Spears, she doesn't have to worry about me stealing her fans away."
What's next for Robins?
"State secret" he says. "It's something different though...and it's gonna be great!"
