About me: Moviehouse screens New York's best independent short films with classic features at Williamsburg's seminal venue, Galapagos Art Space on the first Sunday of every month.
Each event includes free popcorn, drink specials for our trivia contest winners and an after party featuring the visual delights of the city's finest VJs and delicious rhythms of the neighborhood's best DJs.
Our main purpose is to give local filmmakers and performers an opportunity to reach a much larger and more diverse audience than they might by hosting their own screening, while providing audience members with access to high-quality cutting edge work that might escape their notice at a traditional theater.
We started on the coldest night of the year in February with Decline Of Western Civilization and an audience of about 15. After a successful run on Tuesdays, we are now the anchor of Galapagos' Sunday night events, drawing a full house to each screening. We have already been featured in The Village Voice, The New York Times Urban Eye, FreeNYC.net, The Brooklyn Courier Life Papers, and AM New York.

Who I'd like to meet: Moviehouse wants your short movies. We're looking for high-quality shorts and music videos by NYC filmmakers that are 20 minutes or less. Films under 10 minutes are more likely to get screened, but do not hesitate to send in a longer movie if it's your best work. We program each night as an integrated event matching the features to the shorts.
What types of movies are we looking for? In short, if its quality, we'll screen it. Original comedies, thoughtful dramas, experimental video art, and story-driven music videos are all welcome, 13 minutes of self-indulgence or three minutes of your cat sleeping are not. If you know its good and it has to get in front of an audience to be complete send it in.
The entry fee is $5, with checks made payable to Brilliant Productions. Please submit entries to "Moviehouse c/o Brilliant Productions, PO Box 431, New York, NY 10276, OR if you're in Brooklyn bring them by the Reel Life Video in Williamsburg. We're right off of the L train at Bedford avenue, between North 5th and North 6th.
Here are the upcoming submission deadlines:
For the June 1 show submit by Apr 11
For the July 6 show submit by May 9
I think Moonwalker might be a good canidate for the running. What's great is you can talk and dance during the first half. and the second half you can watch Michael Jackson save kids from evil Joe Pesci by turning into a giant robot with curly, metal hair. ha ha haa
The Final days of Livemansion The Movie are upon us folks. if you didn't know. It's kind of a big deal, where 8 out of 24 actors and 1 out of 5 directors will work on a 2$ million film. Did I mention, Spike Lee is the executive producer.
this is the link to the voting page. you may need to sign up to vote, but it is worth it. The mud is deep and there may also already be blood in the water, hope you didn't miss that.
so please go and vote, if not for me then for your own entertainment.
