The scariest word used in my family was ‘capitalism.’ I still remembered why that word terrified me so. Walking on eggshells with no way to keep from breaking them, the best way for me to avoid the poisoning collision of reaching for my own stars and making my dreams come true was to avoid the fragile egotism of control the culture and my parents imposed on me to fulfill the pace in their footsteps.
