History
Evolved from a studio project with long time musical partners Richard & Mark, Russ joined the band with a view to bringing the music to life for live performance in late 2005. Past bands include Glider (alternative rock), Cynical Smile (punk) and Godstone (extreme metal), creating a unique sound influenced by Beethoven to Metallica to Apollo 440.
Richard – ‘The hairs on the back of my neck responded on listening to the first completed mix of our first song. I realised how good we are.’
After 3 months of work in their home studio, the Genesis EP was created in mid 2006. Featuring Don’t Walk Out, It Won’t Last, Lose It, Come On Home and Hole it showcased the first completed tracks.
Russ – ‘I just love it when a new song comes together with the input of all three of us – it’s a buzz’
Immediately following the completion of Genesis, re:evolution set out to improve/expand upon the ideas and spent another 3 months writing and demo-ing tracks for a second EP. Having compiled around a further twenty tracks, the favourites were chosen for the new release. At the same time, the band began intensive live rehearsals in preparation for performances in Spring 2007.
Mark – ‘After working hard on studio based projects for a while, it was amazing to see how well the songs converted to a live setting.’
In February 2007, re:evolution unleashed ‘Sound Developments’. A definite progression had been made in tracks such a ‘Scratch The Surface’ and ‘Hideaway’ with powerful chorus hooks aplenty. The current set closer ‘Deserted’ is a brooding, riotous cacophony.
