We are a Brooklyn based antiracist organizing team committed to uniting communities against Gender Violence. Our work uses arts, culture and education to connect various intersecting oppressions and envision a world of gender equality and liberation.
THIS IS WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON:
TTHE RCM SISTA COLLECTIVE was created to promote and cultivate interactions between women by women and for women. The ultimate goal is to build safe spaces where diverse sistas can gather to share information, resources, self-care, stories, healing, and community. In using RCM's framework of the intersections of oppressions and resistance, the Sista Collective is self-defined as an anti-racist, gender equality, multi-expression forum where women support one another in actualizing a safe world for all women.
THE BROTHERS IN ACTION NETWORK is a network of men dedicated to promoting individual and community accountability in strengthening attitudes that prevent gender violence. The Network serves an opportunity for men to become involved in changing cultural norms that allow for gender violence to continue. The Network examines notions of masculinities and manhood, and their relationship to violence. We make clear connections between sexual and relationship violence and other forms of oppression.
Using workshops and performances, THE RCM ARTISTS COLLECTIVE seeks to delve deep into the relationship between art and organizing. We host large-scale events showcasing artist from diverse mediums around a common theme connected to our organizing work. We also create original performance pieces and workshops that can be performed in schools and community centers.
Reflect Connect Move also offers consulting and capacity-building for organizations looking to strengthen their framework for understanding and confronting oppression. We offer one-on-one consultations, organizing support, workshops and the train-the-trainer courses. Email Reflectconnectmove@yahoo.com for more information.
