Sounds Like
Well, we kinda sounds like when someone plays a guitar, and someone beats on some drums and slaps a bass around a bit, and some guy singing, I'm not sure what you call that kinda thing, but that's what we sound like. Fo sho.
We're a new punk band from the Brockville/Smiths Falls. The story of how Refrigerator Milkshake began is an exciting adventure, to which nothing can compare.
It all started way back in October of 2006, during the wee hours of 5:30AM, when both Sean and Leigh were wide awake with insomnia. Sean decided to show Leigh some old pictures of himself as he was taking a trip down memory lane, looking at all his drunken photos from parties past. When one picture struck a conversation of musical abilities. Leigh saw a photo of Sean screaming at the camera and pointing at the photographer, in a drunken rage, while having an acoustic guitar sitting on his lap. The next photo Leigh saw was a photo of Sean calmly plucking away at the strings of the guitar. Leigh promptly asked "Dude, do you play guitar?" Sean went "No, I play bass, but I wanna get an acoustic guitar and learn that, I'm not all that great at bass really" And Leigh then asked "You play bass, yet, no band?" So Sean and Leigh then began to discuss bands looking for bass players when all of a sudden, there arose such a compelling comment "Dude, we should start a punk band." Leigh stated, with the firmest of fonts on MSN. Why, Sean thought this was a wonderful idea, and they immediately began looking for a name. Sean said "I dunno about a name, but I've got an idea for a song" Leigh promptly said "Shoot" so Sean continued with his suggestion and said "I found this Haiku that I think is a masterpiece, 'Haikus are Easy - But Sometimes they don't make sense - Refrigerator'" That haiku did not become a song. It became much more. The word 'Refrigerator' stuck into both of their heads. It would later become the first half of the bands name. Later on, Leigh had a hankering for a milkshake... So we promptly named the band "Refrigerator Milkshake." The love child of two insomniacs just talking about music.
But wait! There's More! "What about the other members" you might be asking? Well that's easy. Leigh heard word of Steven playing drums and being very decent at it. Not only can that boy sing (Raging Blood) and play guitar (In Offence Of) but that boy can throw some sticks around too. So our drummer was settled instantly. Our guitarist, which I thought would be a struggle, was not. Leigh suggest Bobby Landry from Dirty Sugar. Sean though this was a great idea. Sean and Leigh slept after this conversation and the next morning after Sean awoke from a slumber, Leigh messaged him over MSN and simply said "We have a band dude." This was the best news Sean had heard in quite some time, and was excited to start playing and writing.
They set up a practice, and it went off without a hitch. They arrived at Cody Lee's garage, plugged in, and looked at Bobby to start the riffs. Bobby played something very catchy, Steve threw in some drums, played a couple of times, and then it was time to teach Sean the bass riff. Bobby taught Sean the bass riff in no time at all, and it was clear this band would work. They wrote 3 songs that night, all of which have long since been forgotten by the band.
But the next day, a speed bump occurred. Bobby Landry had decided to leave the band! The boys were shocked! "Bobby, why?" they shouted to the Heavens. Bobby had his reasons, and the boys respected that, and still do. But the hunt for the guitarist was on. Little did Sean know, it was soon to be over. The boys then drafted Cody Lee, who picked up the guitar riffs quickly on the night of the first practice. The lads then wrote some new songs, and rest, my friends, is history.
Much love.

I'd also like to add that we're actually the ones who wrote "Stairway to Heaven." Those jerks in Led Zepplin travelled through time and stole it from us while we were drunk at an afterparty. All I really know is, the demo and the lyric sheet was sitting next to our gear, and I then I woke up with a big headache and a note written backwards on my forehead in sharpie that said "Thanks for the song. -Zepplin"

as you are probably aware, we've been holding youth discussion groups at various living rooms and retaurants in the brockville area as a means of increasing our public profile, and getting to know some of the talented and strong-minded youth in the area. the prblem however, has been lack of interest. we'd really like to see this problem solved. these meetings are free, and open to anyone. it's always an open-ended discussion. so for our next youth meeting, we've decided to do something different to draw some people out. we're holding an acoustic show in leigh bursey's living room next tuesday evening (tuesday, april 10th, 2007), followed by a meeting which we hope you'd stay for and check out. it should be a great evening of music and socialism. the address is 12 schofield avenue (apt.9), brockville. the music will start at 6:30pm, and the meeting begins at 8:15pm. more details should be available soon.
Our next meeting will be held at 12 schofield avenue apt. 9 in Brockville on Tuesday March 27th. Our topic will be "the basis of capitalism" This will be a discussion on the nature of the capitalist
socio-economic system and how injustice and inequality is a fundamental part of it. Recommended reading is "Value, Price and profit" by Karl Marx. The text can be found at:
