The Hippie Shack	Jul 14 2008 3:44 PM I would like to express my gratitude to all who came out to support the Hippie Shack and Gypsy Child at the One Love Music Fest this weekend. Thank you to all my beautiful Najmi's Spirit Bellydancers and Hippie Shack sisters and brothers (it was a very hot day and you all were there 100% to help out throughout the day. Setting up and tearing down was not an easy task but my friends stepped to the plate as usual). Thank you to Paul (thanks for drumming too baby!), Pat and Jerry (Gypsy Child) for rockin Reggae Fest. The event went great with everyone doing their best to show "Green" efforts. I appreciate all that came to our drum circle. The music was so inspiring and spiritually edifying. We met some beautiful friends. The drum circle was quite amazing and lasted for at least two hours. Again, we appreciate you all and we'll see you at Pagan Pride unless you come to Shimmyfest first (next weekend in Fayetteville, AR.). Don't forget that we have a monthly Hafla (drum circle potluck) at the Hippie Shack on the 1st Wednesday of every month at 7pm. Please bring a healthy dish to share in the feast (no alcohol permitted). We will definitely be at One Love Music Fest again next year (or our new Rasta friends won't be very happy). Wow! What an experience we all had. I want to say a special thank you to the organizers of the event for being so wonderful and working so damn hard! Amie and Shug, we love you! Thanks to Z104.5 (thanks Ray and Tom Holiday) and Fox 23 (thanks Taylor) for airing the event and giving Gypsy Child, the very talented drummers and Najmi's Spirit Dance Troupe an opportunity to be appreciated. I will be performing in the brand new Alma Rumbera, an Afro-Carribean percussion ensemble, along with my friends Miguel Nieves, Willie Conde and Cesar Robledo. We would love to see you there. Support local talent in a tribute to the African influence on music and dance. Dance of the Heart II will include everything from traditional African drumming and dance to Afro-Carribean percussion to Calypso and Steel Druming. This will be a spectacular show!
