Ghost in the Machine's Interests
|
| General | Yoga, Shamanism, Angels, The 7 African Powers (Voodoo, Santeria, the 21 Divisions of Heaven, etc.), Music, Art, Sex, Existentialism, Ma'at, Bees, Psychic Revolution | | Music |
In no particular order: Peter Murphy, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kula Shaker, The Cult.
Goldfrapp, Shriekback, New Order, The Rolling Stones, early 80s MTV music (i.e. Eurythmics, The Fixx, Psychedelic Furs), The Cure, Enigma.
Now that Jim Morrison is dead, Tori Amos rules them all. Yeah, I'd put her up there close to Miles in terms of musicianship and certainly as a composer.
Lately I'm getting into African and Haitian drumming.
Classical/concert: Hildegard von Bingen. My favorite piece of music of all time is Beethoven's 9th Symphony, as recorded by Roger Norrington and the London Classical Players.
And J.S. Bach stomps the ass of every other composer or musician who ever existed into the ground so hard that there's nothing left but a crater. Miles Davis is a personal deity, but J.S. Bach is some kind of angelic being beyond human comprehension. | | Movies | Blade Runner, Apocalypse Now, Federico Fellini's Satyricon, The Matrix Trilogy, I Heart Huckabees, M. Night Shyamalan

| | Television | Television is evil. | | Books | Anything by William S. Burroughs, Kathy Acker, Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
The Fifth Sacred Thing, by Starhawk
Being and Nothingness, by Jean-Paul Sartre; Nausea, by Jean-Paul Sartre; Stand on Zanzibar by John Brunner; The Fires of Paratime by L.E. Modessitt, Jr.; | | Heroes | Jim Morisson, Miles Davis, Federico Fellini

Ghost in the Machine's Blurbs |
About me:
I am the facilitator of the Church of Art, Inc. Here's the website. But it isn't Safari compatible yet.
I am a devotee of Sahaj Marg, "The Natural Way". www.srcm.org.
In practical terms, I believe in the world described by psychics such as George Anderson and James Van Praagh (they're really famous, you can look them up). Basically, there's one big spirit world filled with angels and light and we all come from there and we all go to there and when we're there we're all one.
I've learned that spirits communicate with people (including myself) through their imaginations and so I call myself a shamanist. I do writing, music, dance, and visual art, but I view this as a magical process and not an aesthetic one. I am a shamanist who does artistic things, and not the other way around.
Also, I moderate a group on synchronicity.
My continuing mission: To explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before! Of course there are a whole lot of people going there right now, but I still like how that sounds.

Who I'd like to meet:
People who believe in spiritual freedom, psychic phenomena, higher planes of existence, bold experimentation, and the equality of all human beings. The more such people I meet, the more refined my intuitive sense of the Dreamtime becomes, and the closer I get to my destiny.
I believe that just about everything that happens in this world is prearranged in dreams. Whoever I meet, I am supposed to meet. Whoever I don't, I'm not. But I'm always interested in anyone with something to say about the supernatural.
I believe that all our lives are synchronized to the second by a higher power (often known as God, but you can call it what you like). I'd like to have a bunch of friends who have similar beliefs and watch how all our lives evolve, each one of us unique individuals, but somehow all the same as well. It's like watching a river flow -- I can't get enough of it.
