D.R.G. is an acronym for Dem Regular Guys. Born and raised in Detroit, this super group began their journey as emcees via different paths that eventually brought them together. Their effort to separate themselves from the pack will prove to be successful through their new album. Their self titled debut album combines a down to earth perspective and heartfelt lyrics.
As childhood friends, Kenny “LOCK” Lockhart & Cordell “C Dell” Moore shared common interests and often times ended up in competitions against each other. However, their experiences brought them closer together. Growing up right around the corner from each other, their friendship developed through sports and competition. Both star athletes in school, they set out on separate journeys to manhood.
Lock attended Tiffin University on a football and basketball scholarship. While in college, Lock began to discover his gift and passion for entertaining through memorable freestyle session, and one faithful trip to New York City. At Tiffin, Lock met his current manager Cedric Louie, and together they started to develop their strategy for breaking into the music business. In 2003, they returned to Detroit to executed their plan and by 2005 they found a recording home with, the multi-platinum producers, SickNotes (Obie Trice “Cry Now” and D12 “How Come).
C Dell enrolled in Alpena Junior college and eventually ended up back home in Detroit. Although C Dell was unable to obtain his degree, he was able to reconnect with long-time friend Lock, who inspired him to hone his incredible storytelling skills. C Dell along with other child hood friends built a studio in their apartment and began to record countless songs with, high school friend and producer, Prolyphic.
Lock and C Dell began performing together all over the city and began to build a buzz throughout the streets. As fate would have it, after countless performance together fans began to ask for the two promising emcees to record a project together. Also, C Dell and Lock had a meeting with SickNotes where the idea was pitched to them again. Eventually, they began to see the movement that was being created behind them and decided to officially form D.R.G.
Their self-titled debut will be powered by the soulful production of SickNotes with songs like “Chop Shop” and “Regular”, along with the Prolyphic co-produced “Bossin Up”. Other production is provided by Wrightrax(May Sound Crazy), C 89(Get Fresh), and Karlito.
