Regular Joe was formed in three stages in 2006/7.
Joe(guitar) and Ozzie(bass and vocals) met while auditioning for another band at the Roxy in Long Island City, N.Y. They were both younger than the band that they came to jam with and the music just wasn’t their style. While on their way out Ozzie came up to Joe and asked if they could exchange numbers and maybe jam one day. The info was exchanged and they each went their way. A couple of days later Ozzie called Joe and they made plans to get together.
The magic was immediate! They jammed on some song ideas and Ozzie showed Joe a couple of songs that he had. They played them effortlessly- the bond had been formed. They became real tight by jamming every week and once they had six or seven songs they knew they needed the last piece.
Ozzie and Joe starting auditioning drummers; some OK and some just down right awful! Even though they had set-backs they continued to write and practice every week. Then one day Joe went to see Joan Jett at Irving Plaza in Manhattan. While on line to get into the show people where exchanging email addresses, phone numbers, Myspace pages, and the such. On that line Joe met Chris(drums). They talked music and when Chris revealed that he had been playing drums for many years in many different bands, Joe immediately got his number. When Chris finally came down to play with Ozzie and Joe they were astounded with his skills and they knew they had their man to complete the trio. And Regular Joe was born.
After recording and performing as a trio for a while the need to fill out the sound a bit was evident. Ozzie knew the perfect person for the job- Emilio(guitar), his neighbor that he had jammed with a number of times over the years. After only a handful of rehearsals we knew we had our guy when he had learned all of the songs from the set list and was bringing in ideas for new songs!
With Chris’ classic rock influences, Joe’s hard rock and heavy metal tastes, Ozzie’s Latin, soul, and ballad qualities, and Emilio's energy and new blood, the mixture is sure to have something for everyone.
