Screen Acting
Classes that will change your view of performance
Whether you are beginner or
an experienced professional this uniquely practical view of the
acting process will refine and focus your performance like no
other.
Are you told your acting is
too big for the screen? Do your have difficulty working out why
your character is in the scene? Do you have difficulty making
big changes and taking direction quickly? Do you fear doing a
cold read?
Do you want to act but fear
you don't have the talent?
Richard Sarell believes "Acting is simple.
Its all the things we let get in the way of a good performance
that makes acting hard."
ABOUT THE
DIRECTOR: RICHARD SARELL
Richard's
directing work entails directing over 175 hours of Television
Drama over a period of seventeen years, including the television
series: MDA, All Saints, Home and Away, Neighbours, Something
in the Air, Murder Call, Water Rats, Shortland Street (TVNZ),
Plain Clothes (TVNZ), Australia's Most Wanted, A Country
Practice, Skirts, Blue Heelers, Law of the Land, Embassy and
The Fast Lane.
Richard has been conducting
workshops for professional actors in Australia and New Zealand
for a decade and a half, working with institutions such as the
Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Australian
Screen Directors Association (ASDA), National Theatre Drama School
and the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA).
"After studying acting in California
and New York with top professionals nowhere have I found the
Stanislavski technique as effectively applied to film and television
work. Richard's workshops provide an essential anchor; with such
clarity you will be able to apply the knowledge to all your work." - Cecelia
Specht ("Las Vegas", "Star Trek Entreprise", Accent Coach "Blonde")
"That is what is so invaluable
about The Rehearsal Room and Richard as a teacher - the
personal attention and open forum he provides to get to the root
of problems, discuss them and ultimately ... fix them. The more workshops and classes I have attended
the more I trust the process and the more solid it becomes." - Jackie
Rae Lythgo "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee"
MTC
"The Rehearsal Room process became
a basic foundation for me. With a solid foundation wheels don't
fall too far from the wagon. The process gives me a readiness
during the non-working period - and when the opportunity strikes
I face it calmly and confidently - KNOWING that I've been doing
it all along."
- Frieda McKenna "We Can Be Heros" ABC-TV; "The
Wedge" ATV-10
"You get a solid foundation for
your acting, with Richard. Acting is about making choices and
trusting them, this process will help you do that." - Paul O'Brien "Home & Away"
(HSV-7)
You can choose from evening
drama classes during the week and on Sundays too. Plus a very
'hands-on' successful TV Presenter's course.

ABOUT FORREST'S
BLOG - UPDATE
It's amazing. In October 2007 The Rehearsal
Room will have been shooting Forrest's Video Blog for a year.
In that time we have shot 25 Blogs, involving 37 actors (all from
The Rehearsal Room MASTER CLASS) and accumulated 90 minutes of
screen time. We have learnt a lot!
The most important discoveries
are the increased awareness of story telling and performance.
The long running takes have also increased actors listening skills
and the ability to survive the unexpected. Everyone is a better
actor for having the experience.
PLUS we have had a lot of fun.
The Rehearsal Room is beginning
the process of testing whether "Forrest's New Beginning's"
is marketable as a feature film. There is much to be learnt but
we will keep you informed of our growing experience in this area
via this website and also on The Rehearsal Room's main website.
You can watch the most recent
episodes here on Myspace, but if you want to watch the whole thing
from start to finish, you'll find the entire series on You Tube

The actress is Holly Marshall, she's a great undiscovered talent! Watch the whole film if you get a chance:-)
I've just been exporting out of Pinnacle Liquid edition as a Windows Media file, then using Windows Movie Maker and saving the movie at the 512kbs for broadband setting and it does an ok job, depending on how small or clear you need the file to be. I'm keen to get to some of your classes soon, just need time to permit for a while!!
Hope you're well!
