Tras editar dos discos con Elikat: “Caught in love” (1989) y “ Electrikat” (1991) , el vocalista Luis Massot formó parte del grupo Mr. Cheese en Londres, ahí fue donde empezó a forjar la idea de fusionar el rock con las raíces propias de nuestra cultura. Ya de vuelta la idea toma forma con el nombre de Ziryab, realizando diversas actuaciones hasta consolidar la banda . Pocos meses después son fichados por la compañía Avispa cambiando su nombre por TAIFA. Con esta compañía editan “ Más allá del sur” (1999) producido por el cantante de Medina Azahara Manuel Martínez y se auto producen el video clip “Guitarra. Espejo de mi alma”, recibiendo muy buena acogida por parte de los medios especializados y del publico en general. A partir de entonces realizan conciertos tanto en Mallorca como en el resto del territorio nacional, dejando fuera de dudas que el fuerte de la banda es el directo.
Pasado un tiempo, TAIFA se plantea actualizar su estilo haciéndolo más duro, más flamenco y más electrónico ( con la incorporación de samples), adentrándose también en la Música andalusí. Por este motivo la banda evoluciona hasta convertirse en trío: Luis Massot (Voz, bajo y samples), Martí Riera (guitarra) y Antonio Medina (batería) .
Actualmente, tras su participación el festival AL-LAMA en OUED LAOU ( Tetuán-Marruecos) y diversas actuaciones entre Andalucía, Mallorca, etc... tenemos el placer de presentar su segundo LP: “ ALHAMBRA” junto a su video clip “LAS TORRES DE BABEL” ( filmado en el norte de Marruecos).
ALHAMBRA ha sido grabado entre Mallorca, Andalucía y Marruecos. Resultado de una ilusión, hecha realidad con el esfuerzo de un grupo de músicos de diferentes razas, culturas y estilos musicales (andalusíes, flamencos y de rock), haciendo de este trabajo algo genuino dentro del panorama musical actual, siendo la única banda que fusiona el metal progresivo, la música andalusí y el flamenco.

Now, after the participation in the Al-LAMA festival in OUED LAOU (Tetuan-Morocco) and some concerts in Andalusia, Majorca, etc… we have the pleasure of presenting you their second LP: "ALHAMBRA" with the video clip " “LAS TORRES DE BABEL " (filmed in the north of Morocco).
ALHAMBRA has been recorded between Majorca, Andalusia and Morocco. Result of an illusion, made reality with the effort of musicians of different races, cultures and musical styles (andalusis, Flamenco and rock), making a genuine work in the musical actuality and being the unique band that fuses the progressive metal, the andalusi and the Flamenco music.
