Release the Hounds started on a ski trip in March of 2007. There were a few guitars lying around the condo Steve was staying in with few people to play them. Fate being fate, Pete learned after crashing Steve's portion of the condo that he was in fact a musician as well and needless to say, when he realized there were instruments just next door, the jamming began and both parties had some recollection that they actually kind of sounded good. After the trip they started to get together weekly to jam in the comfort of Steven's cozy, smoky bedroom. After a few weeks of this, Mike Ludwig was taken into the mix. Mike had been playing off and on with Steve for a number of years and Steve knew he played a solid lead. After a few months of acoustic jamming (in Steven's smoky bedroom) the trio decided it was time to hunt down a drummer. Anthony, (AKA AJ) was a middle school classmate of Steve's and although Steve had never actually heard him play the drums, he did hear some great things about the man on percussion, so based upon a recommendation from a mutual friend and musician, Steve decided to invite Anthony for an audition. Things began to come together from the first song they played together as energy, ideas and uniquely influenced sounds from anywhere and everywhere seemed to fill our new jam spot in downtown Brighton known to many, as The Sound Museum. Based upon structure, harmony, simplicity and focusing on having a good time at all times, the foursome has quickly built an arsenal of originals as well as covers that demonstrate their vast backgrounds and love for all things music, primarily the rock side of things.
