MySpace a place for friends

RTM was started by a small group of local musicians and artists in Summer 2006 as a response to what was perceived as a need for community and partnership between the music & artistic communities. Rather than continue to complain about the state of things, these musicians, with the help of other local performers and artists, came up with the idea of a Community Co-op for musicians and visual artists: Release The Monkey.

The idea for this co-op is based on previous experience working with small theatre companies where tight-knit artistic collaboration and friendships are a vital way of life. These companies consisted of artist and performers from various disciplines who came together to collaborate on shows as well as to form a strong basis of networking and friendships throughout the local arts community.

We believe that networking and collaboration are fundamental to the continued growth and improvement of the local musical and artist community, and strive to improve those bonds and connections.

Mission Statement: Release The Monkey will strive to provide a community-based music & art Co-op for the purposes of:

• presenting quality entertainment using the skills and talents of local musicians and artists
• creating an atmosphere that promotes and encourages creative collaboration and support among the local musical & artistic communities

• organizing and producing regular shows, events, and art openings that will incorporate the talents and skills of the Co-op's musicians, visual artists, techies, and volunteers
• Holding regular company meetings for the purpose of planning, organizing, and strengthening the bonds between company artists
• Assisting with the promotion and encouragement of all RTM Co-op members, to the best of RTM's ability.
