    Youth Pastor Caleb's Interests
GeneralComputers have always been a hobby of mine (ever since my first computer - a commodore 64). I'm also a huge pc gamer. I also play drums and guitar so anything music related has got my interest. I also just started playing the bass...now that's cool. My most recent endeavors include dabbling in graphic design. My brother actually is a graphic designer...an awesome one at that, but it's been neat trying my hand at it anyway.
MusicChristian Rock, Hard Rock, alternative, and Scores and Soundtracks. Most recently I've been listening to Building 429...they're a fantastic band. I should also note a couple of things in this section: I absolutely love Jon Webb and A Road Less traveled. Check them out on my site...they're both phenomenal musicians as well as being some of the most Godly men I've met.
MoviesI love comedies and action films. I hate...let me say this again... I HATE CHICK FLICKS! Oh yeah, I also like watching horror flicks...I'm not sure why, maybe it's the thrill of it or something.
TelevisionInvader Zim,Futurama, Eureka, Star Trek (Voyager is probably my fav), Deadliest Catch, Myth Busters, How it's Made, Scrubs, Fraiser, Feasting on Asphalt, Iron Chef America, Good Eats, Emeril, Oblongs, Simpson's Halloween Specials, Firefly, The Office..... ...and now for the best tv show ever made...WHO WANTS TO BE A SUPERHERO!!!! Now that's a tv show! HA!
BooksTHE BIBLE (come on, a youth minister that doesn't read his Bible ob a daily basis shouldn't be leading youth!) There's No Such Things as Dragons. I know it's an old children's book; but seriously, it makes me think of sin every time. If you ignore it and act like there dragon in the room (sin in your life) it's just going to keep growing bigger and bigger until you confront it.

   Youth Pastor Caleb's Blurbs
About me:
I'm 27 years old and married to the most wonderful, beautiful woman in the world!!! Allison and I have been married since Dec. 21, 2002. She's a 2nd grade school teacher and I'm earning my Master's degree at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. I'm also the youth mininster at Lifeway Baptist Church working with the youth group we call Relevant Life. After I finish with my masters, I'll go on to get my doctoral degree. But no matter what degree I feel God has called me to work with the youth of today. I'm pretty weird...you can ask any of my friends. And I'm an uber computer nerd.
Who I'd like to meet:
Peter (you know that dude from the Bible, he always kept putting his foot in his mouth...just like me, I think we could relate!!!) The guy that made Invader Zim (Jhonen Vasquez)(probably the best show ever created, and it's a shame it's no longer on the air!)

   RELEVANT LIFE MINISTRY

Relevant Life Student Ministry
of LifeWay Church

Information of Relevant Life Student Ministry!

As I've said before, I'm the youth minister at LifeWay Church in Arlington TN. The Youth group is called Relevant Life! So here's some information for those of you who are interested!

What we're about:

Relevant Life Ministry is geared to helping the youth of today. How do we do this? Well for one, we make sure the Bible is present in everything we do! Our lessons our heavily dependent on the Bible. I don't want my opinions shared with the youth of today; I want the word of God to be what drives our life lessons. I'm just a man...and make a lot of mistakes...but the Word of God doesn't have mistakes so it just makes sense that it should be what we use to lay out our guidelines for living. What I've found is that most students today don't spend any time in thier Bibles; so I'm not going to lessen it during the times we meet by not using it. Teaching our students how to read the Bible and how to fall in love with the written word is one of our goals at Relevant Life.

In addition to using the Bible; the other primary focus of Relevant Life Ministry is just that...showing studetns that the Bible is relevant in every aspect of thier life. It is applicable to every question that they may have in thier life: who should I date, should I hang out with certain people, can I go to this bar? The Bible is the instructions for how we should live our lives. Teaching our students to direct thier questions to the Bible for thier answers instead of Mtv or magazines is our thrust at Relevant Life. After all as II Timothy says the Bible is profitable and applicable to everything!

Lastly, we strive to teach our kids how to engage in the culture around them. You can be a strong Christian and yet be a part of the culture around you! Students today have a hard time distinguishing between the secular life and the Christian life. Unfortunately for our students, they have seen an example laid before them that they should either seperate themselves completely from the world, or even worse, that there really isn't a difference between secular and Christian and that you can live in sin and not worry about it. Our goal is to teach them how to be Christians and to live out thier convictions and still be a part of the world; to not be ashamed of thier Christian life and to share with others about God. In reality there's not two lives (secular and Christian)there is one life our Christian life that we live in the world.

Times for Relevant Life Student Ministry!
  • Sunday Morning Sunday School: 9:30 a.m.
  • Sunday Morning Worship Service: 10:30 a.m.
  • Sunday Night Worship Service: 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday Night Service: 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

If you live in Arlington, or Memphis, or anywhere near the area, then feel free to drop by and worship with us!

What We Believe: The Bible is the only authority for our lives. Everything in it is relevant for our life and there isn't any mistakes in the Bible, so it MUST be the only thing that we should use to guide our lives! The Bible says in II Timothy 3:16-17 that,

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for and for training in righteousness. That the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work."

Come Sunday nights!!! We have lot's of fun! We've got a youth band that plays, we incorporate videos and media into our messages, AND every Sunday night we give away free stuff!!! From cd's to shirts, everyone has a chance to win something!

Come and be a part of relevant life ministry!

   PLAN OF SALVATION

Plan of Salvation

# 1 A GREAT POSSIBILITY - - It is possible through Jesus Christ to have assurance that when you die you are going to heaven and to have a full and meaningful life right now.

# 2 A GREAT PROBLEM -- Every member of the human race is born with a sin nature "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" . Romans 3:23.

Mankind is universally lost. Sin separates mankind from a righteous God, not only now but eternally in hell. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" Romans 6:23.

# 3 A GREAT PROVISION -- The one true God has revealed Himself to the world through Jesus Christ. God has provided through Jesus Christ the only way of Salvation. God loves mankind so much that He gave His life to pay the penalty for sin. "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:6-8.

# 4 A GREAT PRIVILEGE -- God gives us the privilege of being saved from our sins. You must repent of your sins (" Unless you repent you will all likewise perish" Luke 13:3) and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ ("Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved: Acts 16:31).

Faith and repentance are different sides of the same coin. When you turn in faith to Christ, you turn from sin. To experience this forgiveness the Bible declares we must REPENT of our sins; be sorry and be willing to turn our life over to God.

# 5 A GREAT PRAYER -- It is possible for you to be saved right now. The Bible says, "That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and will believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation' Romans 10:9-10.

You can express the faith that is in your heart by praying a sincere prayer like this: "Thank You, God, for loving me, a sinner, and for sending Your Son to pay the penalty of my sin. Right now I put my trust in His death and resurrection for my salvation and receive the eternal life that You offer me through Him. Thank You for hearing this prayer, cleansing all my sin through Christ's blood, and accepting me now as Your Child. Teach me and direct me through Your Word and Your Spirit to discover Your purpose and will for my life, Amen"

# 6 A GREAT PROMISE -- You can be sure you are saved. Salvation is a matter of faith, not feeling. God's word is our assurance. The Bible says "For whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" Romans 10:13

You can count on God to keep his promises. God wants you to be sure you are saved. The Bible says " And this is the testimony; that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God" John 5:11-13

   HOT CHRISTIAN MUSIC

Hot Christian Music

Well I decided to put together some music links for anyone who stumble on my page. Why? Well for a couple of reasons. The first is because I want any student that are looking for something they haven’t heard before to have something cool and new to listen to. Secondly, this is also for other youth pastors and ministers who are looking for a group to come lead worship at their church or play for their events. I know most of the people and as a youth pastor I understand the importance of having worship leaders that have an intimate and vibrant walk with God. These men and women display exactly that: a love for music, but more importantly, a hunger and yearning for God that drives their personally life and music life.

    And now…onto the Bands!
