BIO:
Relic project began in Bologna in September 2005 from an idea of Marco “Spezz” Pazzini (bass guitar), Paolo “Paul” Nocchi (guitar and backing vocals), Enrico “Helric” Ferrarato (guitar) and Simone “Simo” Spolzino (drums) rising from the ashes of Adder Slaver, an‘80s thrash metal cover band. Paul and Spezz came from the experience with Dreams of Agony (death metal), Spezz also playing Bass in Tarchon Fist (heavy metal), Basic Dreams (thrash-alternative metal) and Angel of Anger (black metal). Helric was already guitar in Strategy of Tension (thrash metal) and finally Simo joined the band coming from Tail, an alternative-metal band of Bologna where he played guitar and singed, reinventing himself as a drummer and clean vocals.
All these different musical backgrounds and influences melted together into something new and rapidly the Relic beast came to life screaming its first wailings: new original songs were composed, with a style nailed to modern death-metal, but soaked and contaminated with thrash-metal, metal-core, groove-metal, alternative and nu-metal… all of which was called “Mutant Death Metal”! After a brief period, it was obvious that a hideous growler and screamer was necessary… Spezz was the man: he left the bass aside and permanently became the front man. At last, Domenico from Last Embrace (Gothic Metal) joined as bass player… the Band was finally complete!
From January 2006 Relic started playing all over Bologna in Pubs and festivals (such as Transilvania, Lowenhof, Sottotetto, Ca’de’Mandorli, Scream Bloody Gore, Lazzaretto) and also in Milan as support for Embryo, Lifend, Through Your Silence and other underground metal bands, collecting appreciation and lots of positive feedback from the audience. During that period Domenico left Relic and “Sky” (bass from Brisk Eyes) took his place for some months, then finally Marco Zirondelli, aka “Ziro” from Lacerater (brutal core), stably became Relic bass player.
In October 2007 the band entered in studio and recorded their first 5-track promo EP, which was released later in March 09, receiving lots of consents and appreciation from all the metal-heads who were lucky enough to have a taste of it! Throughout all 2008 and still now in 2009 Relic have spread its tentacles all around, with gigs in more and more music halls! To be noticed the participation in the 2 days tour “Robot Monsters From Outer Space” (organized by the fellow band Lacerater: http://www.lacerater.com/robot-monsters-from-the-outer-space/index.html) together with some kick-ass underground iconic bands such as Sanatorium (Slo), 2 Minute Dreka and Murder Therapy.
Now the Relic beast is hunting fiercely, with its terrible jaws open wide!
