A million times I've missed you, a million times I've cried. If love alone could have saved you you never would have died.
To some you are forgotto, to others just part of the past; but to me who loved and lost you, your love will always last. It broke my heart to lose you, you didn't go alone; for my life went with you - the day God called you home, for things on earth didn't matter, but now I feel so alone.
My heart will always be broken, my life will never be whole, until I see you again on God's golden shore.
God's garden must be beautiful for you are there to stay, the rose of love within me will bloom again someday. We might be parted for awhile, our hearts will always be together for one day soon we will hold hands again forever.

On April 22, 2006 two precious angels were called home to heaven. Shortly after 6 pm, Katelyn DiSessa and her fiancé James were heading back to their apartment in Leominster Massachusetts. James was driving. They were on route 62 in Lancaster, when a drunk driver crossed the center line and headed right for them. With a pond to his right, and oncoming traffic to his left, James didn’t have enough time to react and try to get out of the way. Their GMC Jimmy was struck head on, by the drunk driver directly on Katie’s side of the car. After the car stopped spinning (throwing shattered glass and car parts all over the road) and landed in someone’s front yard, James got out and walked around the car to Katie’s side. He asked her if she was alright and told her to say something, but she didn’t. He knew it was over

Katie was 8 months pregnant with their first child. It was a boy, to be named James David Rousseau Jr.
When the paramedics arrived, they pronounced Katie dead at the scene. It has been said that she most likely died instantly, and felt nothing. Although she was dead instantly, they pumped oxygen into her body to try and save the unborn baby boy until they got to Clinton hospital, where the baby was delivered by Emergency C-Section. The baby was born silent and was said to be not breathing, but still had a heartbeat. Several attempts were made to revive him and save his life. Unfortunately those attempts were unsuccessful, and James Jr. was called home by Jesus to join his mother in heaven, just a couple short minutes after he was taken out.

The crash occurred on a Saturday night. Katelyn and James Jr. were buried on a warm, sunny afternoon, the following Thursday. Baby James was buried in his mothers arms. Everyone knew she would have wanted it that way, so that’s how it was done. As I stood a foot away from the casket and wept uncontrollably I said a silent prayer to our angels. It was then, that they showed up. As I could feel the sun shine much brighter and heat my back with rays of light, I knew they were watching over us and forever will be.
The pictures of the baby are from the wake, and the only pictures we have. I had debated so long on weather or not to put them up. However, I feel in order to get my message across to people, seeing James Jr. is of great importance. Imagine that, having to look down into a casket and see a baby places in his mothers arms. His life was over before it began. He was robbed of a chance to live his life, and the world was robbed of a wonderful little boy.
Unfortunately, the drunk driver was never charged with the “DUI” even though he openly admitted to the first cop who arrived at the scene, that he had beers at a friend’s house before he drove. Our not-so-lucky day with judges I guess. We spent a year and a half (or longer) going to court every month, only to see him walk away with a “slap on the hand sentence”. He was sentenced to 18 months (6 to serve). He spent 1 month in the Worcester County House of Corrections, then served the remaining 5 months in “Alcohol Rehab”. Not nearly enough for taking two innocent lives. He was released in May of 2008 I, has his license back, and is freely living his life, while we still suffer the loss of two precious loved ones.

This page is here not only to keep their memory alive, but to hopefully reach out to people regarding the harsh reality of drunk driving. Drunk driving is a crime that is committed far too often and is so easily preventable. It is often overlooked, and people tend to make light of the situation. It is our hope that through sharing our grief, we can reach others and help them to make better choices, because “No drink is worth the mourning after”. If you can’t think of yourself, think of others. As I always say “Remember these two faces” next time you go out with friends- make the right choice for you AND others.
Bumper stickers and wristbands have been sold to states all over the US in memory of Katie and James Jr. It is our many supporters that keep us going in spreading the awareness, and taking baby steps toward saving lives! I know we cannot change everyone, but for every person that we do help who will go and share this story with their friends, many more think twice about the choices that they make. Her story has been spread so widely around the map that I have received emails and voicemails about speaking at schools and helping to put together presentations. Together we CAN make a difference, so that less families have to suffer from the harsh reality of drunk driving.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS PAGE IS MAINLY ABOUT DRUNK DRIVING, BUT I HAVE ADDED OTHER LOST LOVED ONES OF MINE WHO NEED TO BE REMEMBERED AS WELL. MAY THEY LIVE ON IN OUR HEARTS FOREVER, AS THEY REST SAFELY IN THE ARMS OF JESUS.
Katie was one of the best friends and mentors throughout my childhood. Unfortunately, the darkest days of my life were seen when she was taken from us. Whenever I needed a friend, she was there. When I withdrew from everyone, she drew closer to me. She always made sure I was doing my best to take steps in the right direction in life and was the brightest light, in the darkest paths. Without her I find it a constant struggle, but try live my life making choices I know she would have wanted me to make. She was definitely the “rock” through all of my days. With the many people that walked in and out, she was the constant. I remember summer nights, sitting out in lawn chairs in the cool breeze catching up on life and sharing stories of past memories and struggles.
She had her own personal struggles. We both went through a lot of the same things. She was just a few years older than me, so whatever I was currently going through, she had most likely already gone through once or twice in her lifetime. It seemed as though she always knew what to do. She had an answer and solution for everything I was going through. I was amazed at how far she had come in her life, with all she had been through. I think a lot of it toward the end of her days, had to do with knowing she would soon finally become a mother. All the wanted was a boy. All she prayed for was a boy, and she got him.
She wanted nothing more out of life than to become a mother. Knowing that about her, we can only believe that, that is why god had chosen to take James Jr. as well. She has the one thing she wanted out of life, with her forever. He was buried in his mother’s arms, where he will remain forever. They not only lie in the arms of Jesus, for they lie buried deep within our hearts for the rest of our days. Each day the sun shines down on us, we are reminded of those two precious faces shining down on us from heaven.
If there’s anything I’ve learned from losing Katie, it’s that you need to tell the people that you love, how you feel about them. Tomorrow is never a guarantee. Had I learned this lesson earlier in life, I might have gotten the chance to tell Katie how much I loved her and how I thanked god every night for having her in my life. Although she is no longer with us, I thank god for the time I did get with her, although it was cut short.
I love you “Katie-bug”
I think of you every day, I still miss you so much
I love you, I will always love you
