A Note From Kevin...
“Rusty Goodman is and always will be my favorite singer.
I met Rusty twice and was too backward to let him
know that he was my favorite and that I actually tried
to impersonate him since I was a teenager.
This tribute recording has been one of my all-time
greatest moments in Gospel Music.
I take it very seriously to honor one
of Gospel Music’s finest legends.
I actually prayed and asked God to help me capture at least some
of the feel and sound only Rusty delivered with such a special anointing.
I believe God has answered my prayer and I will always remember the feeling
in the studio as I tried to fight the tears during these special songs.”
It was an added honor to work with Rusty’s daughter, Tanya Goodman Sykes
on Look For Me and I Wouldn’t Take Nothing For My Journey Now.
She is very special and seemed to really enjoy singing on this tribute to her father.
My hope and prayer is all of Rusty’s family, friends and fans are all reminded of his great music through this recording.
I also want to wish Billie Goodman all the best in life and personally thank her for her encouragement during the months of preparing and recording this project. She e-mailed me the following statement when she first heard this CD...”
“What can I say? I was very moved. I thought it was Rusty!
Tanya was here with me to give me a hug.
Rusty would be pleased. He liked things well done.”

I will praise You, O, Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in Your name, O Most High. ~Psalm 9:1-2~
This is awesome. The first Southern Gospel concert I went to was The Happy Goodmans when they came to Porterville,Ca. I think I was 4 or 5 years old. wow thats been like 32 years ago, now I feel old. Ha Ha
We really enjoyed having you and the group at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Bowman, GA in July. We were truly blessed by the Spirit we felt there in the midst of our church while the singing was going on. Looking forward to ya'll coming back whenever you can. We love you.. Carol and Terry Mize
KEVIN, YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE SINGER,AND YOU DO A GREAT JOB ON THIS PROJECT! THERE ARE TIMES IT SEEMS AS IF RUSTY WAS DOING THE VOCALS.I DO ALOT OF YOUR STUFF IN MY CONCERTS.RUSTY AND THE WHOLE FAMILY WOULD BE PROUD OF THIS PROJECT."WHO AM I" IS THE BEST GOSPEL SONG WRITTEN. BUT THE ONE I GET THE MOST REQUEST FOR ,IN MY CONCERTS IS "THE BLOOD IS STILL THERE" THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR "REMEMBERING RUSTY"
The time I got to travel with Howard and Vestal was so special and I wish I had been around the family when Rusty was still alive but of all I have heard you have captured him wonderfully in this project. God Bless! Marshall Pugh/Monument
What a pleasure and an honor it has been to work with you as producer of this tribute album. Rusty was a great singer and will always be missed. But you have shown yourself with this project to be an incredible singer in your own right. These days when gospel singers come a dime a dozen, it's hard to find ANY truly exceptional ones. So, in the caliber of Rusty and Kenny Hinson who I was privilaged to work with and produce early in my career, you have put yourself right up there in their class!
Sincerely, Dirk Johnson
