If you were a kid growing up on Sand Mountain through the 60’s and 70’s and you were learning to play the guitar, and you didn’t know who WARM or Ray Honea was, you must have been under a rock someplace.
This MySpace site is dedicated to memory of one the greatest rock and roll bands of all time and to honor the amazing guitar work of the late, great Ray Honea. We wanted to do this so the many thousands of WARM fans could still listen to the music, look at photos and bring back old memories of wonderful times we had listening to WARM.
More will be posted soon in the Bio section so, stay tuned and in the meantime, enjoy!!

All of us Warm fans need to get out to Zydeco in Bhm on the 14th...maybe, just maybe the king will cover "Centerpoint Hotel"...We might even catch Bubba playin the tamborine or jumpin on the bed...
Hey guys - Just finished listening to some of your music, and I had forgotten just how good you were! It brought back memories of the concert at Val Monte about what? 100 years ago? LOL!We were all so young then! I remember Smokin' was also there. Where are they now?
kick ass, your music makes me want to eat the skin off of someone's face, and then puke it up and wear it as my own face, so keep rocking;] Hope to roll with you on some concerts!
I used to go listen to Warm at the Long Branch Saloon in Attalla back in the mid 70's. In the later 70's, Ray and I became pretty close. I had a small recording studio in Gadsden where Ray would come and write and record jingles. In 1980, I moved off to travel with a band and lost touch with Ray, but around 87/88 I was playing with a band in Birmingham, and heard that Ray was doing very well from a friend. He played me some rough mixes from Ray's project and I remember thiking to myself "damn, it's about time". I always knew that Ray would do well. It was only a few weeks later that I heard the news that Ray was killed in a car accident. Ray was a kind and gentle soul. I think about Ray,Wain, Lanice and Mike (Warm) often, and wonder how things would be different now if Ray were still with us. I also would love to see Wain, Lanice and Mike, so if anyone can give me contact info, please do...
We’re very excited to tell you that soon you can see ‘When I Find the Ocean’ on the big screen!

Remember Warm well from Diamond Jim's in the mid to late '70s. GREAT BAND! Always covered songs the other bands wouldn't touch. I was 15 when I started going to "Jim's". Back then if you had a few bucks to spend and didn't act up there really wasn't an age limit.
I was one of those guitar playing teens in Arab, AL('78 Grad.) who LOVED this band! We all wanted to play like Ray and be in a tight band like WARM. I feel privileged to have seen most of the Gville Town Hall shows. Here's my ticket stub from when they played City Park. Thanks for putting together this site. You've moved my heart.
thanx for your friendship....... remember the early days @ dimond jim's wharehouse in birmingham... best shows ever and great folks... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! ô¿ô ◄ marcus ►
Forgive me!..... I'm usually the last to get to a party and the last to leave. I hope others will crash!
Warm was my favorite band in High School... (Arab '77). I had seen many of the top guitarists of the era but Ray Honea was my Idol! He could and did...do it all! And in his own unique way.
along with the Honea slice was the package of a killer rhythm section that understood "punctuation" and I mean meticulous attention to minute detail! This was not lost on me.... Seeing the band live when they were "on" and they always were was an absolute thrill to me and a salient event in my life! Thar ya go... How bout that! .... Oh yeah....BTW.... The boys were always "on" as I recall.
Warm were "Sand Mountain" dwellers and I was "Brindlee Mountain" stock....as such we had different gods and bootleggers! I missed out on a lot of the local "lore" of the band. Sorta added to the mystique I guess!
Great to hear these recordings ... others I miss include that incredible "Crossroads" Cover I'd like to here the story of that recording sometime.
So many other memories... G.Town Hall.... can't remember the date.... Honea moves me to tears with "Born Under a Bad Sign" I swear Mike musta had a 'lude infusion to count that off so slow.... so deliberate.... great guitar... perfect accents from the rhythm section dynamics simply unheard of.....but I digress.
There were songs I never really got to know as well as I would like... but the titles remain close. "No One Like You", "The Ballad? of Oliver Chairs?" I'd like to learn that one to sing to my Grand Daughter!
At any rate, Ive banged on long enough. Thanx for the sounding board. Thanx for the Add.
What a wonderful sound and style Ray had. Was so impressed I bought an ES-150 myself. Never sounded like his though. Enjoyed the Guntersville town hall chair pile up. The 76' Arab prom. Any place, any time. Why are the really great ones taken from us so early?
i grew up listening to WARM. i'm so happy you have this site. brought a tear to my old-man's eye when i told him about it. he grew up with ray. maybe you remember his crazy ass. ed davis is his name. keep rockin! ;p~~~tuie!
what a small world.... Yes - I am very good friends with Tully. And I rocked with you in high school... i remember going to town hall to a warm concert - one of the best memories of my teen years! What has been going on these last 25 years?
'Center Point Hotel' is about the apartment that Mike Bruce, Bo May and I lived in. Wain and Bill Green lived across the parking lot. One day the little kid (7 or 8 years old) that lived in the apartment that was upstairs from us was outside watching moving men move their furniture into the moving truck. I asked him why they were moving and he said "Because Mama and Daddy say y'all make too much noise". They didn't know the half of it.
I remember WARM doing an acoustic version of the Beatles' "In My Life" one time. I believe it was at the Gadsden Amphitheater and they came out after a break with acoustic guitars and sat in chairs, as I recall. We were all pleasantly surprised. It was a great rendition of a great song.
I added a Guestbook for Waynes friends to sign. Drop by and leave a comment. It will mean a lot to him. Thanks for signing the petition, and keeping us in your Top Friends -Sonny Edwards
