Hello! Want to know a bit about me, instant-gratification style? Look up at the pictures above, and then check out some of the music on my playlist. :) I have interests that span all across the map (literally), and I hope you enjoy!
..Greetings!..
I'm an artist and a burgeoning vocalist, who just quit her day job in N. VA. Now, I hope to begin working on the REALLY important stuff. (Get some singing classes under my belt, some bellydancing stuffs, maybe some collabos w/musicians from CL... And otherwise scrapping all the "shoulds," "woulds," "coulds," "mights" and "wills," & "can'ts," to finally ACT on making what I've always wanted a REALITY. :))
School, college, 9 to 5 job, 's all been done and frankly, it's gone nowhere. Perhaps I just haven't dug my heels in deep enough, or perhaps Somebody *points* Up There is trying to tell me something... Either way, I'm just doing the best I can and finally getting off my tuchus to DO SOMETHING w/my life, n'est ce pas? ;) So'm finally working toward what I WANT to do- which is sing and create art professionally- and possibly act or do other fun performance stuff on the way. I know, "big dreams," you say.. and no, I'm not sure how I'm going to get there, yet. But --I've wasted enough time,-- so I've decided to start taking bellydancnig classes, exercising, going on a diet, and looking into singing at local places about town to get my name, my voice, and my face out there. ^_^ Whether I start performing at Faires, bellydancing here or in San Fran, or muddle though the agent slosh in NYC, Chicago, (or any of the other fantastic cities out there), this is ony a step up, and it's time for finding the ladder and climbing. ^_-
On the up side, I'VE JUST GOTTEN MY OWN PLACE!!! ^_^_^_^_^_^ It's a dream I've had for a long, long time, and even though it's ghetto, it's nice because it's MINE.. ya know?? ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ So now I've -finally- gotten my wonderful kitties Skye and Ouna home, and they're getting the chance to meet my newest fuzzy arrivals; my two rattie boys Shadow and Houdini. :D:D (They're all still figgerin' things out, but I think it's gonna go well. ^_^)
It feels so good to have my own place and get a real, new start. ^_^ From here I know I can really start doing the things I've wanted to w/my life. ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ (Ya know- before the doing's too late and the day gets too dark, so to speak... ;)) At this point I just gotta put my fear aside and go for it, no? ;D:D ..Better to try and fall flat on my face than spend each day in question or regret, and end up wondering why I never tried or did anything w/my life.. right?? (Let alone kill myself over whether or not I could have succeeded if I'd just gotten over myself and TRIED, ya know? ;..) -I don't want to be eighty and wondering if it was all fluff, mouth, empty bravado and wishful nonsense- or if I was just too chicken to've actually --given it a good go.-- (And yes, I'll admit, deep down inside, though I want a professional singing and ent. business career ..more than anyone could possibly know, I am UTTERLY PETRIFIED.....!) But I don't want to waste my chances (or what little's left of my youth) before it's too late. And I don't want to wile my life away watching others doing what I love and wishing I could be doing the same w/a jealous and longing heart. Gotta hit it sometime, you know??? :D:D Never know what you can do 'till you try, right??
So dammit, no matter how scared I am, how frightened I am of failure, that I might be continually laughed off the stage, or even that I might get some taste of what I seek and screw up, ..I'm bloody tryin'... Dunno how or where to start out, but I've got to. There's simply no choice for me anymore... An' I'm glad of that, really. :) It's about damned time I started ACTUALLY TRYING, n' doing what I dream. I'm sick of wishing and wanting and waiting, and being miserable in some form or another, while I fantasize about (n' no doubt talk about) it endlessly. ;):)
So there you have it.
Wherever it takes me I'm determined to give it MY BEST and Make It. ..Period... :) I'm just lucky enough.. blessed enough- to have a few great people standing beside me along the way, and to know that Somewhere Out There Someone's looking out for me, too. ^_^ *beams*
Oh! And for those who're interested, these are my two wi'l kitties, whom I adore to pieces!! They light up my every day, and they're my pride and joy. >^_^< >^_^< (Hopefully soon I'll be adding my two new ratties to the pics, too. ;D:D)
This'll be me someday... Someday soon. It's amazing how the pieces sometimes seem to come together... ^_^
Wanna see the places I've traveled so far? I've seen a bit in my own time. :)
And lastly, if you're up for some cool fantasy, dark, horror and/or fine art, check out my MySpace art page!!
Anyone sweet, earnest, intelligent and who has a good sense of humor. I admire people who've persevered through adversity and still succeeded with (or are still firghting for) their goals, while maintaining their kindness & gentleness of spirit. Goal-oriented but deep and compassionate people. Artists, poets, musicians,.. I like meeting lots of people- but I tend to gravitate toward brainy, creative types who're sort of.. outside the norm of "classic" society and its bounds. (Goths, geeks, freaks, etc.)
I'm very much still in search for my Mr. or Ms. Right, and cannot wait to find (yes, I know it's cheezy, but I do still believe in it) my OTL. (<--Translation= my One True Love.) I'm bi so I really don't mind which package that person comes in, as long as their soul's beautiful, we have some things in common, and there's some chemistry there- some.. invisible yet irrisistable spark that makes me weak in the knees when they look at me, or make me want to melt when they smile. :) Either way, I'm looking for someone w/similar goals, the occassional similar value & interest, and someone who I can sing to, snuggle with, and read to (as well as be read to on occassion) to boot. Oh yeah, and someone who's not objectionable to fuelling my backscratch habit. (Which I'll kindly return, of course. :)) I love pertty bois and statuesque girls, but I find beauty in all packages, so honestly no real rules apply. I just try to live by the golden rule and hope that homever I end up falling for falls fo rme, too. :):)
Aside from that, I'm up for having fun while looking, and am all for making friends along the way and meeting new faces along the road no matter what. I'm always up for a new friend, love going out and hanging w/folks just as much as chilling out an evening playing games or watching movies, and love exploring and doing new things w/the people I enjoy spending time with. (Even if it's just going down to the local pool for a dip or bowling a few games w/like-minded folks. Yes, I am a -bit- of a gamer, but I also would like to get to know more people in the music and art crowds, as well as people interested in language, culture, travel, dance, spirituality, art for/by people w/disabilities, and any other common interests we may have- even if it's just goin' out dancin'. :)
As for people I don't: Elitests, spammers, scammers, fakes n' frauds, close-minded-jerks, people w/ chronic superiority OR inferiority complexes, and anyone who feels that they are, or should be, the center of the universe. Drama whores are a no-go for me as well, please. (And no, I don't mean folks who dig theatre or reality TV). the need to peddle their religion w/a deaf ear and an armored tank- so to speak. I'm religous and admire religious people, but I value spirituality and openness, not crazed fanacicism, elitism or sealotry. I like crazy people.. I just don't like CRAZY people! ;)
ANYWAY..! *blushes* If you're talking in the larger sense, 'ere ya go: Dead: Jesus, His deciples, various Ancient Druids, Buddha, Ghandi, Mohammed, Queen Victoria, Katherine the Great, Alexander the Great, Helen Keller, Oscar Wilde, E. A. Poe, Marie Laveaux, Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Vincent Price, Mother Theresa, Black Elk, Sitting Bull, Abe Lincoln, Mary, Ella Fitzgerald, Mozart, Beethoven, Charlie Chaplan.. Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Sandra Burnheart, and all the great ladies through history who Made It through spunk, drive, and despite seemingly insurmountable obstacles. :) Like Artemisia Gentileschi, Julia Margaret Cameron, and Amelia Earhart. Oh, and any dead artist that isn't Picasso- like Frida Khalo, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Rubins, Rodin, or Vermeer. Waterhouse and other Pre-Raphaelite painters would be great, too. B-) B-)
Alive: The Dalhi Lama, The Pope, Robin Williams, Ani DiFranco, Cindy Sherman, Angelina Jolie, Cindy Lauper, Loreena McKennitt, Kevin Smith, Prince, Sarah M., Lisa Gerrard, Whitney Houston, U2, Peter Gabriel, Daryl Hannah n' Tom Hanks, Danny Elfman, Margaret Cho, Eddie Izzard, Steve Martin, Gene Wilder, Art, Avocado, Don & Ia T'ashia(sp?), the Fab 5, the chick who plays Shane on the L-Word, Tim Burton, Winona Ryder, Gary Oldman, the Charmed girls, Marilyn Manson, Annie Lennox, Aretha Franklin, Bonnie Raitt and Paul McCartney (both with my mom in-tow), Madonna, Johnny Dep, Tom Cruise, Jhonen Vasquez, Maya Angelou, Mercedes Lackey, L.K.H., Stephen King... Ricki Lake, Oprah, guys who created and are casting Cirque du Soleil... Lots of people. :) ..And anyone from verious books and dreams that I wished were real. ;)
All forms of Art (unless it's uber-mod-doesn't-make-ANY-sense-or-have-any-purpose crap. I love vampires, ghosts, witches, gypsies, faeries, mermaids, unicorns, elves, all that stuff, and adore reading books, playing games and watching movies about them as well. I love reading, (I'm a huge Stephen King fan), a lover of Laurell K. Hamilton's work, and dig old 80's flicks. I'm TOTALLY into language and foreign languages in all their forms, plus I'm a bit of a grammar whore (and probably should have been a philologist). I'm a complete and utter music junky w/tastes that are beyond eclectic, and I adore bellydancing, Middle Eastern music Bhangra, earth-based religion music, and lots of trance, goth industrial, Celtic/World music, and anything you can dance to. :) I ? exploring new places and cultures, love poetry, prose, stand-up comedy, am a total geek for fashion, and adore fantasy art & illustration. I'm into spirituality and learning about religions of all types all over the world, have a fruit basket set of personal spiritual beliefs, and have a hard time dealing w/close-minded, bigoted, or blissfully ignorant people. I'm into intelligence, creativity, wacky senses of humor, being silly, childlike, and having fun w/life while still keeping your goals and ambitions- and knowing what's most important in life- love. I adore animals, am into equal rights for EVERYONE, and am kind of a hippy-goth. And yes, I know it may sound cheezy, but if I could I'd save the world. You wanna help? Check out one great cause below and help me, one innocent animal spirit at a time. :):):
You want more than that, you'll have to come talk to me sometime, or just have the balls to ask. :)
Music
As long as it ain't hardcore gangsta rap, I'm up for it. From Mary J. Blige to Bonnie Raitt, U2, Sting, Dead Can Dance, Peter Gabriel, BT, VNV, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Conjure One, Frou Frou, Ani Di Franco, Techno, Trance, World, Middle Eastern, Industrial, EBM, Celtic, Swing, Jazz, New Age, Ska, even a scarce drop of bluegrass here n' there- (if i'm in the mood) chances are I'm likely into it or have some pieces scattered here n' there that I enjoy within a gnere.
Movies
JUST got into zombie flicks, and i'm TOTALLY IN LOVE!!! I dig old eighties fantasies like "Legend," "Splash," "The Neverending Story," "Labyrinth," "The Last Unicorn," "Beastmaster," and "The Dark Crystal." (Not to mention stuff like "Date With an Angel" n' "Goonies!!!" I love vampire flicks, zombie films, suspense/thrillers in lieu of gore-fests, and dig comedies and stand-up shows. I enjoy the odd animated film, dig some anime, and love Miyazaki's films like "Spirited Away," "Kiki's Delivery Service" and more. I love fantasy of most any kind, and mermaids n' selchie movies make this waterbaby happy!! Plus I'm not beyond getting a series set when I can of stuff from TV- but I'm po so I only have one or two of those. ;)
Television
I dig lotsa telly shows: Project Runway, Hex, Are You Being Served, The L-Word, Spongebob, Queer Eye, Charmed, HGTV n' DIY stuffs, and anything that just might catch my interest. I like getting my catty on w/my new fave MTV's Next, plus I enjoy W.I.T.C.H. and various things on LOGO, like "Can't Get a Date." INHALE's a great yoga pick-me-up in the a.m., Worst Witch used to be fun, and I still miss old eighties stuff like Thundercats, Silverhawks, Voltron, The Littles, Pirates of Darkwater, the Gummi Bears, MLP, Dungeons & Dragons, She-Ra & and old show no one remembers called "Golden Girl and the Guardians of the Gem Stone."
Books
Stephen King's works, Laurell K. Hamilton's books, anything Brian Froud, coffee table art books, the old Wolf Speaker series, anything about witches, vampires, ghosts, zombies and the like. (I still want to get and read Max Brooks "Survival Guide" about zombies. :)) I love the classics like Edgar Allen Poe, some Shakespeare, and many of the great poets like Tennyson, Wilde, Blake, Joyce and others. Never could get into the books by Tolkien or Rice, but I love their genres, movies, and really enjoy J. K. Rowlings's books about that wizardy kid n' his raggle-taggle bunch o' friends. :)
Heroes
My mother, my grandparents, and anyone who's stood up for what they believed in no matter what and held fast to their dreams and/or beliefs. People who have stayed strong amidst opposition, adversity, and nearly insurmountable obstacles. And all the people who do the quiet, good deeds that go unnoticed by all or most. ..The people who do all the dirty work that so many don't want/can't/wouldn't dream of doing, yet who get few or no thanks for what they do, -but without whom the world just wouldn't be the same. People who care about others, especially when nobody else does or wants to, for whatever reason. And people who succeed doing what they love, while staying true to themselves, their dreams w/o falling apart or in to peer pressure or bigtime buyouts. :)
