Hailing from the entertainment hot bed of Los Angeles California Renaissance Blvd is quickly making a name for themselves. The music of Renaissance Blvd could be described as a mix of '70s pop rock combined with '80s-styled synth pop. However don’t be fooled Renaissance Blvd isn't living in the past. With influences ranging from The Doors, The Cure, U2 to present day Coldplay and The Killers, Renaissance Blvd manages to reveal a truly unique sound and style that gives them their own platform in today's musical landscape.
Renaissance Blvd came together in 2006. The band consists of Marcos Cardenas on Vocals, Guitar, and keyboards, Cesar Cardenas playing Bass and Jose Chavez the heart of the group on Drums.
In 2007 the group released their full length album "Love Hate and Tragedy". They managed to set up venues and concert dates to promote and sale their self released debut. It hit independent record stores and Internet distributors such as CD Baby and iTunes and sales have increased ever since. "Love Hate and Tragedy" was a more experimental album combining R&B, Latin and rock influences.
In 2008 Renaissance Blvd decided to expand their horizon. They are currently writing and recording their new album which so far consists of 6 completed songs and 6 more songs to wrap up. The completed songs are "Surrender", "Exposed", "Her Intentions", "Crawling", "After You" and "Passions". The sound of these songs are phenomenal and you'll be transported by the energy and force with which these songs hit you. Although they would fall into the "Indie Pop Rock" sound, you'll soon find that there is more to the Renaissance Blvd approach and style. These songs have a pop sound along the lines of Maroon 5, they have the passion and heart felt sincerity of R&B melodic expression but with the speed of punk songs. It's amazing how fast and hard they hit you and yet these songs manage to stay with you long after you hear them.
This same energetic vibe that went into the writing and recording of these songs also gets translated on stage. The band radiates with emotion and energy. Every gig draws in more and more people. Renaissance Blvd has performed at Universal City Walk, The Whisky A Go Go where of course many great artists have performed and various clubs in the Los Angeles area. Now with an arsenal of new songs the band is not only increasing the amount of shows but also moving on to bigger and better venues.
Renaissance Blvd is ambitious and ready to play for larger and larger audiences. The band has lofty goals yet understands the importance of balance. The balance to maintain a professional business career and the ever so important job of writing great heart felt material for the fans they love and appreciate. Look for Renaissance Blvd to embark on an exciting journey. Join them.
