Elizabeth Lovelace is a seasoned performer with lots of gigs and recording dates under her belt. Remarkable tone and phrasing skills combine into her rare ability of really making the violin sing. She is a natural at improvising, grabbing the listener by the ear, leading the way, sometimes into her heart, sometimes into the unknown.
Besides Rendezvous, Elizabeth is currently performing with the Saratoga Chamber Players.
Troels Oxenvad has a passion for combining existing styles into new ones, often making Rendezvous’ music defy classification. On stage he is equally comfortable playing rhythm and lead, drawing from decades of experience performing on guitar, bass and keyboards and composing and arranging in a variety of styles.
Upbeat Jazz tunes contrasted by dreamy ballads, colorful Balkan and Celtic melodies, sections of Classical, Rock, Funk, African Pop, Latin, Tango, it’s all there, often elements from several styles mixed up in the same song.
From Gypsy Jazz to Hip Hop with detours into pretty much everything else,
Rendezvous is exploring what can be done with the violin/acoustic guitar duo format.
Bass lines performed on violin and percussion performed on guitar, the two instruments effortlessly alternating between the roles of soloist/improviser and rhythm section, creating ample variation in texture on the way.
Some of the venues Rendezvous has played summer 2009: The Pink Door in Seattle, Prima Bistro in Langley, Choochokam festival in Langley, Museo Art Gallery in Langley, Homes Harbor Cellars in Greenbank.
