Information on the Bakersfield College Scuba Program:
Classes are currently run during the second half of the Spring Semester(March-May), Summer(June-July), and first half of the Fall Semester (August-October). to register, please log on to the Bakersfield College class listing and find the course under Physical Education - Aquatics
All Confined Water training is conducted at the Bakersfield College pool. Open Water dives 1 & 2 will be held on a Saturday at Lake Isabella, approximately 1 month after the start of the class. Open Water dives 3 & 4 will be held on a Saturday at a coastal site to be announced by the Instructor, three weeks before the trip. Students are responsible for covering their own cost (transportation to location, food, lodging if desired.)
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be certified by PADI as Open Water scuba divers.
This is a graded course (A-F), and consists of Textbook Learning, Lecture, Student Demonstration of Basic Scuba Skills (taught during confined water dives), Knowledge Reviews, Quizzes, and a Final Exam.
The PADI Open Water certification is a lifetime certification and is recognized internationally.
It is the basic skills entry-level course of instruction for scuba diving.
