Renny Field Band at The Excelsior Hotel.
Video thanks to Jaan.
Presenting his music on both guitar and piano, Sydney artist Renny Field first emerged on the Australian music scene with the release of his debut album, "Make Believe", in December 2003 and has since become a regular on the live circuit, sharing the stage with some of the country’s leading performers and continuing to build a successful career as an independent singer-songwriter.
June 2005 saw the release of his second LP, “26 Reasons”, an album which showcased a growing maturity in his writing and a significant progression in the diversity of his material. Either with his full band or in an intimate solo acoustic setting, his performances are characterised by the honesty in his songwriting and the strength of his delivery – the sense of story ever-present throughout.
"The depth of craft in his writing and skill in his performance is extraordinary".

In addition to touring extensively within Australia, Renny has made regular excursions to other parts of the globe. In 2008, he performed some 30 shows in 7 different countries across Europe, as well as securing a solo residency in Phuket, Thailand. He has previously played at world-renowned venues abroad including London’s 100 Club and CBGB’s in New York, not to mention the occasional festival appearance and even a mad dash to Fiji for a brief cameo on reality TV.
Late last year, Field returned home to complete his third studio album, “The Arena”, due for release in November 2009 through MGM. Fourteen self-produced tracks ranging from heartfelt acoustic folk to rich cinematic pop, and featuring a selection of local artists with whom he has collaborated over the past few years. Tales of love and loss, a celebration of life’s beauty and its failings, with an unmistakable sense of hope that permeates throughout. It might have been a long time coming, but it’s certainly been worth the wait.
"Singer-songwriters such as Field manage to capture and combine both authenticity and a certain infectiousness that so often eludes their pre fab recording artists colleagues."
