Theatre (plays and musicals);
Renaissance Faires (costumes, knights, pirates, and hand-kissing men - what more could a girl ask for!);
Various arts and crafts;
Reading;
Making costumes;
Ceramics;
Writing;
Animals (I've had most of the common pets, and a few not so common ones);
Amusement parks (I could live at Disneyland. I also collect Disney snow globes.);
Helping abused kids move past their hurt and get their lives back on track;
Currently trying to learn to draw and play the piano.
Some of the things I've done over the years:
Music
I've had a love affair with Queen for about 29 years now. They've been my unquestionable favorite since I was a kid and they still are;
Newer musicals (Jekyll and Hyde, Wicked, We Will Rock You, Phantom of the Opera, etc.);
Classic rock;
80s new wave and rockabilly (still really like Brian Setzer);
Some country (Keith Urban, Tim McGraw);
Rock 'n Roll;
Learning piano has given me a whole new respect for classical, with Rachmaninoff being my hands-down favorite of the genre;
As funny as this sounds, I love old cartoon and TV themes (Speed Racer, Scooby Doo, The Addams Family, etc. Hey, I never said I was completely normal!);
Basically, a little of this, a little of that.
Movies
Way too many to list! I like a little bit of everything, pretty much.
To list a few...
Pirates of the Caribbean (That is one FINE looking pirate!);
Lord of the Rings trilogy;
Phantom of the Opera;
The Wedding Singer;
A Knight's Tale (What woman in her right mind doesn't love a tale with knights, horses, and jousting!);
Somewhere In Time(I've seen it so many times but still don't know if I want to smile or cry at the end.);
Porky's (I've been watching this for 20 years and it still makes me laugh.);
Everafter (Love those romantic fairy tales);
Sixteen Candles;
The Breakfast Club;
Disney's Beauty and the Beast (I have a major thing for the Beast);
What A Girl Wants is a favorite for mother-daughter movie night;
The Wedding Date gets a lot of play around here;
Sooner Or Later;
Gone With The Wind;
Dragonheart;
The Mummy
King Kong (all 3 versions);
The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe (one of the few book-to-movie ones that I didn't complain about being all too different from the book);
The Boondock Saints
...and about 100 other movies I won't bother to list.
Television
I usually prefer a book or a DVD over TV, but I am known to watch LOST, Grey's Anatomy, and Eastenders whenever I get the chance.
Books
How much time do you have? I'll read almost anything.
Among my list of absolute, read over and over again favorites...
R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt series;
Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles (I've been through it so many times that the characters sometimes feel like old friends);
The earlier books in Laurell K. Hamilton's "Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter" series (I can't stand Anita, but Jean Claude, Richard, Jason, and Asher hold my attention quite well);
The Chronicles of Narnia;
Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series;
Stephen King (especially The Talisman and Eyes Of The Dragon);
Dean Koontz;
Judith McNaught;
Kathleen Woodiwiss;
Jude Devereaux;
Sue Grafton;
Mercedes Lackey's Dragon Jousters series
Heroes
I'm not much into hero worship, but if I were, it would have to be this man with the incredible voice...
About me: Ugh, I always hate trying to describe who I am or what I'm like. Ask specifically and I'll probably answer specifically in return.
In general, I'm pretty laid back, easy going, and open minded. I can be unpredictable - one minute very deep and analytical, the next very silly, dreamy, romantic, or shocking. I don't have a problem speaking my mind, but I'm also known for being very caring and compassionate. (I spend a lot of my time with teens from dysfunctional homes. Working with them, I have to have compassion, but also the ability to speak some hard truths into their lives when needed.) I'm on the protective side and hate seeing anyone abused or mistreated.
I tend to get along with a variety of people, from die-hard Christians to gothic vamps. I think that too often people get bogged down by others' appearances or differences to bother taking the time to discover the real person inside. I've learned that it's often worth the effort because you never know what you might find there.
Who I'd like to meet: I actually got on myspace to check out the Ren groups, but it's always interesting getting to know new people. After all, you never know when or where you might make a new friend. So, if you're interesting, intelligent, and fun to be around, then I'd probably enjoy getting to know you.
In other words, I'm looking for more people just like these guys, all of whom I hold fond memories (both past and present)of.
