Who are Renzhe and what is parkour?
Renzhe is a group of seven individuals who practice the art of free running, otherwise known as parkour. By definition, parkour is the art of movement, or more specifically, the ability to overcome obstacles in one's environment in a fluid and graceful manner. Parkour was essentially created by two men: David Belle and Sebastien Foucan, although neither claim responsibility for "creating" the discipline. Rather, they claim it has always existed, and the two of them merely gave it a name. To learn more about the history of parkour, as well as obtain more detailed information about the art, check out this Wikipedia article or visit the Renzhe website.
Renzhe was founded by members Justice, Rob, Rice and Jason, and as things progressed Joop, Sean and Stacy also became part of the Renzhe team. Our goal as practicioners of parkour is to explore and overcome the limitations our surroundings present us with. In doing so, we invite others to delve into the depths of the philosophical side of parkour and use the art to experience a whole new type of freedom. Renzhe's belief is that there are no boundaries, there are merely obstacles, or rather, opportunities.
As tracuers (the definition of a parkour practitioner) we are sure to take all safety measures when performing potentially harmful acts. This isn't to say that parkour is a dangerous activity. As long as tracuers take precautions and are aware of safety risks involved in practicing free running, they will be best suited to avoid injury. There are definitely certain risks that aren't to be overlooked when practicing parkour, but the same goes for any extreme sport or activity. Wear proper attire, go on runs in a parkour-friendly environment, and be sure to warm up and stretch out before any intense activity.
