Musically; Katatonia, Paradise Lost, Sentenced, Green Carnation, Opeth, Sisters of Mercy, Entombed, Grave, Dismember, Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath. Lyrically; Murder, Dying, the deceased, Suicide, Depression, Sadness, Separation, Supernatural, Ghosts, Hauntings, Destruction, Emotional decay, and the miserable life that each and everyone of us on this planet is living.
Requiem of the Damned was founded in October ’05 and soon after recorded a 3 track online demo which was never officially released. This was followed by a couple of live performances during late ’06 and early ’07. After major line-up complications the band almost disappeared entirely, however in 2008, RotD was revived stronger than before with a more dynamic line-up for the band’s future.
Requiem of the Damned’s content focuses solely on the negatives of our lifetime; some experienced, some seen and some read about. People who have had a great loss or misfortune can somewhat identify with our music, while the “norm” cannot (until the inevitable happens).
We are not religious and don’t really care for it. We do not classify ourselves as a particular style but instead like to think of ourselves as somewhat of a hybrid of the different darker genres associated with metal.
Like a withered tree whose roots had found the poisoned stream, we stand dead amongst the others soon to follow…
