The Residence is a show home for contemporary art. Founded in 2005 by artist Ingrid Z, the gallery rejects hospitalisation of art for a venue that projects passion, personality, and communication. Formerly situated in a shop front and now relaunched in a church cottage residence (AUG 2007), it is home to experimental programming and a diversity of media including painting, photography, video, installation, and more. The Residence presents an ever-evolving social environment and situation for artists and audience to interact with. The gallery is very much a live structure that can be enjoyed as a whole or in its individual pieces on show.

best wishes residue. The cellar room, a space that's been lying in waiting, looking to be activated. The photographs are of a new space I have just created by Knocking through the cellar wall, and affixing a small square door at head height. This was intended to create showings which exist in places which cannot easily be viewed. I always thought their must be some space there and it turned out to be a whole underground room. in a way it shows there are creative spaces that are metamorphic fields, or areas imbued with memories, even when remaining hidden. My original intention was to leave all my paintings down there then brick it back up. Though after creating one event down there I feel I may have to do more.
