Residual Effect was formed in Belfast/Dublin in June 2004. After several months of jamming and gigging they recorded a 3-track EP, intent on capturing the aggressive live sound for which they were becoming known.
The self titled EP, recorded in a one day session in Dublin, February 2005 was well received amongst the metal fraternity, with positive reviews from Rocksound, Zero Tolerance and several online zines.
The band returned to the studio in April 2006 to record "In a World Where Pain Is God" which showed them developing technically and musically while maintaining the raw essence of the first EP and their live shows.
Residual Effect have built themselves a reputation for being one of the best live acts in Ireland/UK, always giving a blistering, energetic performance and have to date shared the stage with Raging Speedhorn, American Head Charge, Panic Cell, Soulfly, Born From Pain, Cephalic Carnage, Nevermore, Devil Driver, I Remain, RSJ, 10 Years, Skinless, Visceral Bleeding.
Described as: 'like Soulfly if Trent Reznor were part of the band,' their debut album "There's No Profit in Truth", album mixes the pent up frustration of acts such as Rage Against The Machine with the raging, highly charged riffs of classic Machine Head. Good, honest, politically aware and highly charged Metal at its best...
