Resistors-Past, Present and Future
Resistors were formed in 1981 by Jim, Eric, Joe and Lyn. In the early 1980s there was no real “scene” in Central Indiana so the band played mostly private parties. Lyn the original drummer left the band in 1982 and Ken was tapped as the band’s new drummer. At that point Punk music became more widespread and the band played shows in Indianapolis and Lafayette as well as the Columbus area.
After high school, the members went separate ways to pursue their lives, reuniting every so often to look back on old times and play the old se, -just for fun. When the four all returned to the Columbus area in the mid-90s they set out to write new songs and just have fun. The band spent most of the time on hiatus, however, only playing a show ever couple of years. In 2006, Eric made the decision to pursue other interests and left the band.
Doc Shew and Dano Fouts were tapped to replace Eric. A short time later the bands first album, Damaged Ugly & Loud" was recorded. In true old-school fashion, the record was a complete do it yourself project.
Drummer Ken Patton took a leave of absence if the fall of 2007. Rock drummer Doon filed the spot until July 2008, when he left to work on his bands album. Patton then returned to the band.
During Doon's time in the band, we recorded our second album "My Own Worst Enemy" which was well received by critics and has sold worldwide. The song Blood Oil and Sand was on Mohawks Top Ten Most Downloaded list for several months in 2008.
The band has plans to begin recording it's third album "One Nation" in the fall of 2009.
