Punktastic
‘Resolution 242’ is a record that packs a funky reggae punch, impressively so for such an early outing. File this alongside The King Blues’ debut, ‘Under the Fog’ (the original Householdname Records version) and the current troop of acoustic-punk reactionaries. The sound of revolt is sounding good. Real good.

Take The Red Pill
Listen carefully, red pill people, we can hear the sound of change – and it sounds good. The accusation of simple sloganeering won’t stick to Resolution 242. Their lyrics are too clever and their songs are bolstered by the clever use of samples of excellent speeches. And I also suspect that when the protesters take to the streets – spurred on by people like Resolution 242 – the band will be there too, giving credibility to their admirable passion.

RESOLUTION 242 - S/T
Wow. This hits right between the eyes..!! Thought provoking lyrics, and great musicianship make this album a real experience. The band cover several just causes, and all credit goes to them for reminding us all that there are issues out there that need to be addressed.
I love IMF and POETS TOWN for the great acoustic guitar sound coupled with the harmonica. WAR CRIMES is a blinding tune, with the clever use of vocal samples. There's some cool Melodica in there too.

Ska Mutiny
Surprise surprise, Resolution 242 DO know what they're on about, and do a brilliant job of articulating their thoughts and feelings, offering the perfect compliment to their finely crafted tunes. And there's a refreshing sense of humour amidst the bile and venom, my favourite lyric being from the harmonica driven acoustic number I.M.F (which Google tells me is the International Monetary Fund - see, I wasn't joking when i said i wasn't clued up) where they declare: 'We'd rid this poverty, and all get Monday mornings free.'
Separating the music from the lyrics, they can shift from acoustic folk to summery dub quite easily, and without it sounding stale or repetetive. Even though a fair number of the tracks clock in over 4 minutes, there's really no sense that they ever overstay their welcome, hooking you in with huge vocal hooks. Opener Bullets In The Ground is a perfect example with it's catchy 'Rise Up, Rise Up' outro. The layered vocal harmonies and sublime grooves just suck you in, hypnotising you with catchy simplicity.

Easy! We are Resolution 242 and we have a few tings to say....
Alot of the tunes we write are influenced by stuff that we are into/involved in like social justice, Anti-war movement, animal rights and the like...
We dont claim to have the answers to any of these problems before you get your anti-political band knickers in a twist! We are raising awareness about important issues that we think need attention and debate, in the only medium we can, music...so we hope you get involved and enjoy!
We have been privileged enough to share stages with the likes of The King Blues, Sonic Boom Six, The Flatliners, Mischief Brew, Johnny One Lung, Inner Terrestrials, Drongos For Europe, Contempt, The Autonomads, Dirty Revolution, Random Hand, The Skints, Ghost of a Thousand just to name a few and also played a set at the 2009 Rebellion festival
