DONNA GREENE - VOCALS
GRAHAM GREENE - GUITARS/VOX
JIM AWRAM - BASS
TOM IONS - DRUMS

The music of Resonance Project stems from a rock & metal based background where all influences reflect back to classic hard rock and metal acts of the 70's & 80's including Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Heart, Black Sabbath & Pink Floyd and all of their offshoots. In addition to these classic originators we can include bands like Whitesnake, Queensryche, Dream Theater, Magnus Karlsson to name but a few that have had an influence on the Resonance Project sound.

Resonance Project Band Members:

Donna Greene
Vocals

Donna Greene is the voice of Resonance Project, and one of the principal songwriters. Her powerful yet musical vocals and commanding stage presence is a focal point of the band's live show, and the songs (all co-written by Donna) lose nothing in translation from her amazing recorded performances.
Donna is an internationally recognized singer, having toured across Australia as well as overseas to India, Hong Kong, Singapore & most recently Vietnam, where she has performed to rave reviews. She also performs as a musician and lead vocalist in Graham's solo band. Their work together with previous versions of Resonance Project (Judgement Day 1994-98/ Fallen Angel Australia early 00's) and their 13 years of creativity with Graham Greene & The Happy Sinners from the original incarnation (headlining the 1994 WAMI Awards at His Majesty's Theatre) to today. The band later included the additions of talented colleague Jim Awram (bass) in 2002, ultimately lead to the formation of Resonance Project - The ultimate balance.

Graham Greene

Guitars/Vocals

Australian Guitar Hero; Hailed by Australian Guitar Magazine as "The Satriani of the South", Graham has been a leading exponent of Australian melodic rock guitar for 25 years. His 2006 album Leap Of Face showcases his virtuosic command of the instrument, and his work with Resonance Project is no less impressive, as years of experience and a feel for his craft translate into great music and great live shows. Graham achieved international success in 1991 with his nationally acclaimed melodic rock band "Ice Tiger" (founder), (Ice Tiger 1987-92; Album: Love'n'Crime released in the early 90s in Europe, the UK and Scandinavia on Long Island Records as well as in Japan through BMG Victor, arriving @ No2. on the Kerrang import charts 1992 & reaching Top 20 Australia - a milestone for Melodic Rock in Australia), prior to establishing himself as a solo artist in 1994. The inclusion of Donna's co-written tracks on his albums (originally written for their melodic/prog rock band, 'Judgement Day' 1994-98) led to Resonance Project, the project giving the two a chance to perform together again full-time.
Graham is an endorsee with Mesa/Boogie amplifiers, Wegen Picks and Ormsby Guitars, who make three 'Graham Greene Signature Series' guitars - the GG6, GG7 & GG6FG.

Jim Awram
Bass

A prodigious talent on the fretted or fretless six-string bass, Jim Awram has been an in-demand musician, both live and in the studio, for over twenty years, and his authoritative bass playing anchors the music of Resonance Project like a rock. His command of the instrument raises him above the common, and his solid timing and acute sense of melody are part of a unique style that is undeniably 'Jim'. Travelling locally and overseas playing everything from Blues to Jazz to Rock has given Jim the ability to blend amazing musicality with a smooth and assured live performance, one that fits perfectly into the Resonance Project show.

Tommy Ions
Drums

Tommy Ions is a young man with a solid work ethic and a huge depth of talent, combined with an exuberance that shines from the back of the stage at a Resonance Project concert as he provides the rock-like foundation for Resonance Project's huge sound. Another young recruit to Graham's solo band, Tommy was immediately the natural choice for the Resonance Project, and nobody has looked back since. Tommy has amassed a large amount of experience in the short time he has been playing professionally, both onstage and behind the scenes, and this shows in his mature approach to his drum kit as well as the music he plays. It is Tommy's balance of solid grooves and technical prowess that help him to match and blend with his more experienced band mates in creating a sound that is Resonance Project.

   About RESONANCE PROJECT

RESONANCE PROJECT:  Powerful, Dynamic, Uplifting, Atmospheric, Virtuosic, World Class, Progressive, Melodic Rock. The 5 accomplished members of this Australian band perform to captivate and excite.  Sublime musical prowess & performance featuring memorable songs with dynamic hooks & lyrics with a positive message.

In late 2007, Graham and Donna Greene received a communication from Vietnam, requesting their presence and performance at a multinational concert to be held in Hanoi on the 10th of January 2008. Up to this point, Graham had been performing as a solo guitarist, playing instrumentals with his band, The Happy Sinners, which included Donna as vocalist on the songs that were included on Graham’s albums. As chance would have it, Donna had just released an EP of vocal tracks, both from her work with Graham and newly–written material. The title of the CD and title track is Resonance (Spirit of Man).

Knowing that a band presence was preferable to appearing under one person’s name, Graham and Donna decided that Graham Greene & The Happy Sinners would undergo a transformation for the Vietnam concert, and so Resonance Project was born.

The concert, at Hanoi’s My Dinh National Stadium, was a huge success, with Resonance Project playing to a live crowd of some 15,000 and a TV audience of six million across South East Asia. The performance made local stars of the Australians with their new Vietnamese friends, and set the stage for a new direction for the band when they returned home. Resonance Project was now an entity unto itself, featuring the stunning vocals of Donna Greene and the twin virtuoso guitar attack of Graham Greene and Saxon Smith. Along with the rhythm section of Jim Awram (bass) and Tommy Ions (drums), the band has started playing live in their home town of Perth and producing new songs that have been hailed universally as “the stuff”.

It is a great honour for Resonance Project to have had some of the band’s material used in world wide campaigns by www.stopchildexecutions.com as well as raising funds for the Orange Children’s charity via their Vietnam performance.

After such inspirational beginnings, Resonance Project are now on the road to establishing themselves as the benchmark for Progressive Melodic Rock in the Great South Land – a fitting full circle for Graham who achieved international recognition in the late 80’s and early 90’s for his ground breaking Australian Melodic Rock band, Ice Tiger.

2008 Highlights for Resonance Project:

January 2008:  Resonance Project is invited by the Dept. of Foreign Affairs in Vietnam to represent Australia at the My Dinh National Stadium and headlines the “Welcome Vietnam” event, an event culminating in band performances from several nations to depict friendship across the world.  The event is based on the back of the South East Asian Economics Conference being held in Vietnam for the first time with delegates from approximately 60 nations in attendance.  The show was played to a live crowd of 15,000 people and aired live via VTV1 to a viewing audience of 6 million people across Asia.  Resonance Project received a standing response and ovation.  Proceeds from the event went to the Orange Children’s Foundation.

April 2008: Graham’s instrumental “Impressive Hair” (also played during the Resonance Project live shows) wins 1st place in the category of ‘Rock Instrumental’ on Ourstage.com – A US based fan website.

May 2008:  Resonance Project is Featured Artist on United Rock Kingdom – US based rock internet radio station.

July 2008:  Greenehouse Productions in conjunction with Starr Special Events (John Starr – Daryl Braithwaite Management/ WA Agent for Diesel, Mental As Anything, Screaming Jets, Damien Leith, Renee Geyer etc. see www.starrspecialevents.com.au ), presents and the Inaugural “Guitar Gods Behaving Badly” event (see www.guitargods.com.au) where Resonance Project perform three of their recent and new tracks to an appreciative crowd amidst the Graham Greene instrumental headline performance.

August 2008:  Graham (the first Australian Mesa/Boogie endorsee to be presented on the US Mesa/Boogie website) MC’s the Music Park “Boogie Nights in Manhattan” Mesa/Boogie Clinic and performs.  This is an Australian first for Mesa/Boogie in Australia.

August - October 2008: Resonance Project songs and Graham Greene instrumentals are both a “Featured Artist” on US based website My Stage Music for the genre of ‘Metal’ and ‘Rock’ respectively.  Resonance Project boasts “Six” of the Top 10 Most Played Tracks and 2 of the Most Viewed Videos for the past 4 months consecutively (July, August, September, October).

October 2008:  Graham Greene wins "Best Rock Instrumental" with "Impressive Hair" at the Star Music Awards held in Hollywood at the "Music Box (Henry Fonda) Theater on October 26th 2006.  "Impressive Hair" is part of the RP live shows.

November 2008:  Guitar Gods II gig.

Reviews (Audio & Video):

Procopy (AU) on Resonance (Spirit of Man):

'Making its debut at the recent Guitar Heroes:Guitar Fest (Oct ‘07) was the first 'solo' CD from Donna Greene, titled Resonance (Spirit Of Man) - a collection of five songs (co-written with partner & renowned guitarist Graham Greene).  Mastered and duplicated here at Procopy, this is a truly great album... a breath of fresh air.'

UK Review on CD Resonance (Spirit of Man):

Occasionally you come across an album that is difficult to quantify. Such is the case with the Resonance Project's Spirit of Man. This collaboration sounds like a soaring, atmospheric-rock side project of Jefferson Airplane. Not to say the sound is dated by any means, rather pointing to the vocal styling; which is at the heart of the record, and reminiscent of Grace Slick's early work. 'Eternity' begins as a mellow, Mojave-3/Zero-7 type of work. The music escalates into cascading guitar riffs and gorgeous, dreamy vocals. 'Fire in Your Liberty' continues the journey, adding edgier strings and an incremental, catchy chorus (more rock-like than the first cut). 'Home' feels like the musical peak of the album. The lead vocals joined by back-ups and an extended guitar solo. The title cut, 'Resonance' strikes a more aggressive tone. The overall sound is more akin to a Heart track, as it builds the vocals widen and tower over the music. The artists on the Resonance Project sequenced the record perfectly. The tracks play as a continuous sonic story-board, with their sheer musical talent as the narrator. Perhaps phrases like progressive rock suit this album, but classifying it only detracts from the message.

US Review on Video ‘Resonance (Spirit of Man)’:

We enjoy being flippant, irreverent, humorous, and nonchalant, but there ARE moments in which some things should be taken seriously. Donna's skills as a Vocalist are truly evident in how she evokes the spirit of the song in her performance. I believe every word she says and found myself drawn into the plight of those to whom this video is aimed at helping. Graham and the Band do a tremendous job of laying down a foundation that fully supports the message. I felt the emotion of the entire Band, and that's the mark of superb musicianship. As moving as it is rocking, this video is poignant, entertaining, and informative. It's got it all folks. Resonance (Spirit of Man) is more than just a music video. It's a multi media experience that reminds us that rock can be fun, but can also serve a very powerful purpose in the fight against injustice.

Apr 16 2009 9:51 AM

Hey Resonance Project. Thanks for responding to our current Friends drive and adding Bands@Manjimup. We are doing this because we have a few really exciting events coming up like our recent concert, on Friday 20th, featuring Elora Danan (photo below) on their debut album tour, Manji prog rock band Ashoka and Perth ambient rockers Laced Affair. It was a high energy show with fantastic sound, and those who came got to meet the bands for more than an hour afterwards. The pictures are now up as a slideshow. Check them out at the top of our profile.

Next, we'll be hosting the biggest regional event in this year's WAMi Festival calendar, on 22nd May. The support acts: Abbe May, Sneaky Weasel Gang, Desert Radio and Ashoka. The headline act for the concert needs to change and will be announced asap. Following day Abbe (songwriting) , Drew Goddart (guitar) from Karnivool, Roy Martinez (bass) and Nick Johnson (drum tuning, cymbal selection and kit set-up) from Eskimo Joe will feature as lecturers in our B@M Youth Muso Workshops.

The June gig will feature an even bigger headline band, probably supported by local heroes Ashoka and Electrostatik.

We'll keep you updated with bulletins and you may want to tap into the bands listed on our Top 40. You'll always find the performers at our next gig right up the top. At the other end you'll find bands that have recently played, followed by acts, who want to play at B@M. Send us a comment if you like them and they maybe get the go.

Lastly: PLEASE VOTE AGAINST DAYLIGHT SAVING! It prevents proper FX lighting at outdoors concerts before 9pm in summer. Especially for support bands.
It’s gotta go!!!
Peace, The Terminator
