About me:
Resonator Magazine

Something good about us...we listen to really really really ridiculously good music.

Something bad about us...we can be a little (ok, ok, A LOT) on the snarky side.

Something good about us...we're excellent spellers. And we do our laundry really well.

No but seriously...

What we are!

Resonator Magazine is a collective of music writers formed in 2002 and formalized early in 2005. The minds and voices behind the medium have come together as a rebellion to what we feel is the homogenized publicity engine that modern music journalism has become. We see publications that are quick to hype every band that figured out sometime early Tuesday morning how to get sound from their guitars as "the next big thing in rock", we cringe as magazines continue to call all electronic music "techno", and we complain as the major review sources continually pass up small, fledgling artists in favor of whatever the hype machine of music labels is touting as "important" in this week's deluge of releases. As such, we at Resonator are dedicated to providing music coverage as we see fit. Meaning we will review, praise, hype, critique, and dismiss as we see fit.

The members of the Resonator Magazine team are, in our daily lives, music writers well known and respected in other publications in the industry. You've doubtlessly seen us in magazines you know, playing the game, giving four or five star reviews touting albums we really don't like or care about because our editors have told us it's important for us to do so. At Resonator, we don't play that game. Regardless of what the Public Relations gurus tell us we should like, if an album bites, we're going to tell you. If we go to a show that all the kids are into and we're not feeling it, we won't lie to you. By the same token, if something has been rocking out the Resonator offices, we're going to throw our lives behind it, regardless of if it's only ever seen the light of day on some obscure 8 track in your grandmother's closet.

In order for this to work, though, and for us to keep our day jobs and day lives (and to be able to continue to feed the cat), we operate under assumed names. This isn't because we feel any less attached to this work then we do to our other writings; if anything, it's because we feel more attached. We are able to say what we feel, and feel what we say.

What this means to you is this. If you're an artist, label, or publicity rep, and you want to send us music, or obtain more information on us, please feel free to contact us at info at resonatormag dot com. However, be aware of this: we've seen the way magazines as of late are willing to run press releases, and nothing but, with no personal opinion, no truth, no meat. This insults listeners, music fans, and artists, and it's not a game we're willing to play. Our reviews will be honest, up-front, and based in the feelings and thoughts elicited from the music we hear. The interviews we conduct will ask the questions we want to know as music listeners and have been tossing around as we drink our Coke Zero and chat with each other at 3 am. Also, we're going to approach everything with a self-conscious sense of humor. Remember: we're post-modern. Enjoy it. We're open to all genres, but we're not open to bribery. We do, though, want to hear what you want to send.

To the readers: we will be your source for the unapologetic, asshole truth, whatever it may be. If we bypass the new Tiesto album because an unsigned band from Las Vegas that sent us a promo cd colored with black, gold and silver paint marker has been destroying us over and over again arrives, that's what we're going to do. While we might not know better than you, we do know better than the mainstream. Why? Because we helped create the mainstream...and we can dismantle it.

At our hearts, here at Resonator Magazine, we are music lovers.

Who I'd like to meet:
EVERYBODY! No, seriously, everybody.

Hey there! Thanks for accepting our friend request. Your honest approach is a breath of fresh air towards the industry. The powers that be in the UK are too scared to touch us as we are not churned out of the latest baked bean factory. There aren't a lot of spines here. We are therefore looking to the US for open minds in your industry. We are coming to the US very soon as we have a song in the new movie called 'Red Hook' (www. redhookmovie. com') released October this year.
Keep in touch, lots of love Micci xxxx
