About me:
HISTORICALLY.....Respect the Rock first went to air on Sunday June 13, 1999, hosted by a young and nervous Nicole TadPole, and an even younger but less nervous Heath TadPole.
After learning to panel by looking over James Young's shoulder for an hour during his Triple R drive time show Talk is Cheap, Nicole TadPole started out presenting Respect the Rock with a different "rock guest" each week. This was mainly due to her average sized CD and vinyl collection and the idea that a guest with a healthy music collection would provide the tracks for the show.
Once she had built up her own collection to an acceptable size, she gave the rock guest idea the arse and took the reins completely, gathering dedicated listeners and wellwishers along the way. TadPole's philosophy is "If it rocks, I play it."
Moving to Thursday nights after three or four years was lovely for TadPole, who at that stage had trouble being coherent at midnight on a Sunday after having no sleep since Thursday...
Now at Monday nights 10pm-midnight (as at April 2007), TadPole is enjoying having some solo time in the studio - i.e sans the many champion rock troopa guests that have graced the show in the past years. Which is funny, because this is the best timeslot Respect the Rock has ever had - there should be more guests, not less!!!! But, no mind.
There have been a variety of segments featured on Respect the Rock over the years, including Roycey’s Rock n Roll Retrospective; Timmy’s First Word; Ringing in with Roger; TadPole’s favourite KISS song of the week; Yanti’s overseas report; The Respect the Rock Champion Rock Troopa Challenge (which still happens a couple of times a year); Demos with Betty……and more…
Today’s Respect the Rock features The Gig Guide; fortnightly Wrestling News with Duane (focused on WWE); Respect the Rod (focused on fishing. That is, when they catch fish, and can be bothered staying up past 10pm without a rod in their hands! Ahahahhaha - www.myspace.com/respecttherod). Also Palma's Crop - new and undiscovered releases. When Palma can tear herself away from her truly rock n roll lifestyle. And wonderful hair. There's also sometimes the odd wacky, short-lived segment whenever TadPole feels like it.
But on your average week, the show is laughter, riffs, credible rock gossip, wrestling news, amazing fishing tips, exclusive song airplay, prizes, biting social commentary, cutting edge interviews, hilarious promos, invaluable gig information, and TadPole singing along to Respect The Rock’s Gig Guide theme (originally provided by Dancin’ Dan) – the classic, Holy Diver. And swearing.
LATE BREAKING NEWS!!!
In the near nine years that Nicole TadPole has presented Respect the Rock on 3RRR FM, many segments have appeared on the show, including ones about fishing, wrestling, new bands, old bands, the meaning of words, KISS songs, and others. Now you can add PING PONG to the list brothers and sisters!
Yes - tune in to 102.7 FM on Monday nights, 10pm-midnight, to hear the results and shinanigans from the PONG BBQ at the Tote - where 4 bucks gets you a gourmet feed and entry to the Ping Pong Comp (one comp for beginners and another for the talented). There are giveaways care of Respect the Rock, prizes and drink specials all night. Starts 7pm sharp at the Tote, with a PONG call-in on Respect the Rock after 10pm.
