   About Restless Natives Records

Restless Natives Records was established in January 2004 in Edinburgh the heart of the Scottish Drum & Bass scene. The aim of the label is to uncover some of the worlds unknown up and coming producers in the hope that they go on to bigger and brighter things within the industry. This goal was achieved in May 2005 when we were approached by Andy C who was very interested in a tune called 'Be Mine' by one of our artists DJ Samurai. The tune was scheduled for release on Restless Natives but keeping with our concept behind the label we let Andy have the tune. To date we have put out 6 releases both on 12 inch vinly as well as Mp3 format. The first 12 RN001 '28 Days' / 'New Encounters' was released in March 2004, and was produced by Edinburgh based DJ Kryptik. The second 12 on the label RN002 'Going Down' / 'Sundown' again was produced by DJ Kryptik. 'Going Down' in particular got a great response from some of the scenes major players including Grooverider, DJ SS, Bryan G and Simon Bassline Smith. The third release on the label RN003 'Dayz' / 'Dayz Peshay Remix' was the debut release by DJ Samurai. The tune featured the vocal talents of Charlotte who was a student at Edinburgh University and a close friend of Samurai's. We approached Peshay to remix this tune for the b side which he did and liked so much that he asked if he could included it as the first track on his album 'Jammin' which was released at the end of 2004. Both the original of this tune and the remix got strong support from DJ's across the globe 2005 kicked of in style with label boss DJ Kid undertaking the cover mount mix cd for Knowledge magazine which featured both released and unreleased material on the label. This subsequently coincided with the release RN004 DJ Samurai 'Bizness' / 'I Wanna Tell You' which again features the vocals of Charlotte. Then it was the third new artist to come on board to the label in the form of DC Breaks for RN005 with 'Que Sera'/ 'Leave Me'. At this point we approached a number of well known producers in the scene for remixes for the label. First we contacted 1 Xtra's Sappo about doing a remix of DJ Kryptiks 'Going Down' as well as approaching young starlet Mace for a remix of DJ Samurai & Charlottes 'I Wanna Tell You '. Although both remixes were worthy of putting out you some times have to make sacrifices in order to move forward which is what we did by not putting either of these out on vinly and only on Mp3 . The reason behind this was simply because we had the next release by DC Breaks 'Do You Believe ' / 'Noize Dub ' lined up which was creating a fuss . So due to an overwhelming demand by both DJ's and record stores to release it we changed the schedule around so as to get this out as soon as possible. It was at the same time we were approached by MPK who is one of Australia's leading Drum & Bass DJ's who was about to do a mixed Drum & Bass compilation album called 'Winter Enchanted' for Central Station Records who are the equivalent of HMV here in the UK. He was mainly interested in taking 'Do You Believe' but also ended up taking the VIP version of DJ Samurai & Charlotte 'Dayz' and DC Breaks 'Que Sera' This was obviously a good thing for both artists and the label as we started to cement our reputation world wide. RN006 was released in April 2006 and is by far the most popular release on the label and in some parts fo the world rivaling the likes of Pendulum on record sales. RN007' Emperor' / 'Horizon' is the final release from DC Breaks on the label as they have now been signed up exclusively by Andy C for his sister labels Frequency and Hi Lite which is proof that we can open doors for the new breed.

Hey, hope all is well! Stop by the page and check out the newest Mindstorm tunes "Midnight Rush" and "Gamer's Delight" recently added to the player when you get a chance.

"Midnight Rush" has a more Brookes Brothers/Futurebound vibe while "Gamer's Delight" is just full-blown dirty analog bliss. Leave some love if you like what you hear, it's always appreciated. Big up!
