We played Roadhouse 101 in L.C. on July 17th. We played a good show that night. Our normal brand of swingin' fun, fast instro. surf rock. The crowd was small but very fun; they had a real good time. We kept the crowd there all night. The bartender told me at the end of the night sales were GOOD for the night.
The following week I got a call from the owner of Roadhouse 101 canceling our next show scheduled for Aug. 28th. The reason, "the music was not right for Roadhouse 101." This is a blues / rock n' roll / lead guitar music type of venue..... Surf music is not right?????? For a heavy lead guitar type of venue?????
And the other reason we got cancelled was because the crowd was not big enough. IT WAS A THURSDAY NIGHT........ON THE OREGON COAST.........ON A REGULAR SUMMER WEEKEND, not a big weekend, a normal Thursday night. Of course the crowd was small, IT WAS A THURSDAY.....
Let Retroactive Gamma Rays play Roadhouse 101 on a Friday or Saturday. We'd pack the place. We'd rock the place. We'd kill the place.
The owner of Roadhouse 101 is AGAINST letting local bands play there on the weekend. The owner of Roadhouse 101 does not even live in Lincoln City... He lives in the valley! Please take a minute to let people know of this crime against supporting local bands.
Send and email to the address below and tell them to let local bands, that play the right kind of music, play there on weekends. Tell them to support local music. Tell them to stop making up excuses. And, tell them you are not going to RH 101 until they do. http://www.roadhouse101.com
Satan's Pilgrims, Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet, The Ventures, Bad Religion, NOFX, Pennywise, The Lively Ones, Man or Astroman, Pink Floyd, Modest Mouse, Erin Gruwell, Subhumans.......
