The new name signifies a shift in the sound, lyrics, and themes. The newest songs are progressing in a different direction from retrograde -- more simple, ambient, and melody-driven.
This change has been a long time coming. After an exhausting push to write, record, promote and tour the last retrograde album "This Frequency We Share," we found ourselves at a bit of a crossroads. Through all the effort we lost sight of what was most important to us -- the thing that got us started -- the music.
Over the last year, we re-approached our sound, songs and lyrics with help from our new friend and producer Gabriel Wilson of The Listening (www.thelistening.com). It hasn't been an easy or an efficient process. There have been many distractions along the way including school and work which were huge factors -- but we've finally made it to mixing stages with the new material and have been working on a new live set.
We're still working it all out, but our first show as RUN THE RED LIGHT is TODAY. We'll be playing 3 shows this week in BC and Alberta finishing with the Western Canadian Music Awards showcase in Edmonton. Dates are below. Our apologies for the late notice, but we've been going on all cylinders preparing the new stuff for this mini-tour.
And last but not least, you can check out a few quick samples from the studio at the new website (which is under construction): http://www.runtheredlight.ca

NEW DOUBLE ALBUM : B-SIDES & DEMOS 1997-2007
After searching through boxes of archives, we are excited to announce the release of a double album entitled "B-sides & Demos 1997-2007." The collection contains 26 previously unreleased tracks recorded over the last 10 years. Some of the songs will have been heard on tour, others are completely unknown studio tracks. Toby has worked very hard remastering every song, and in some cases remixing. We've had fun putting this together, and we hope you enjoy checking out these rare tracks. You can preview some tracks from "B-sides & Demos 1997-2007" at www.retrograde.ca.
The complete double album containing 26 tracks is now available as a digital music download for $14 CDN at retrograde's online store.

NEW DIGITAL MUSIC DOWNLOADS
All retrograde albums are now available as digital music downloads from our online store. They are better quality and cheaper than iTunes -- and there are no extra charges for taxes or shipping. Plus, you get the music instantly.
The entire retrograde catalogue is now available as digital downloads at the new digital music section of retrograde's online store.

NEW RECORDING & NEW NAME
As some of you know, we are currently (slowly) working on new material under a new name. The new material features a bit of a different musical direction, and after a decade under the name retrograde, it's time for a fresh start. Most of the new material was recorded in Portland with a very talented producer called Gabriel Wilson - and we're really excited to share it with you in the coming months.

Hey, guys! I'd like to share my new song "Ronnie" with you! It was inspired by a 24 year old killed in a workplace accident a long time ago. Did you know that 5,500 Americans and 1,800 Canadians are killed on the job every year? That's 20 a day. 20 moms, dads, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters and friends won't ever come home from work each day. That's too many! This song tells one of those stories. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! -Riley Smith
Getting The B-Sides. Excellent Stuff! :) I guess it's called good musicianship, but you guys do all the right things, make all the proper changes and hooks musically and with the melodies etc. I'm still listening. ;)
Listening to the B-Sides & Demos right now. A couple months back, me & Greg from Tupelo Honey were talking about you guys and how great you were and he mentioned that he had some rare stuff from you guys. Now I'm glad that I can hear some of that rare music!
HEY! Just wanted to let you know that we're playing a show, Saturday August 2nd at The Media Club on Cambie St... Would love to see you there! You can check out our profile for more details.
You guys are still the best rock group in Canada. If it wasn't for the mighty QOTSA I'd give you the Sates too. Maybe your next album will knock them off. I'm looking forward to it!
Really good sound here guys. Let me know if you stop in Calgary anytime soon. I see you're friends with Tupelo. I just did an interview with Dan a few weeks back, It should be posted in the next few weeks. Take care and keep in touch Drew
