About me: Shot on location in Los Angeles, California; ROT: REUNION OF TERROR marks the first foray into psychological horror for award winning filmmaker MICHAEL A. HOFFMAN.
A throwback to Giallo and revenge cinema of the 1970's, shock ending intact; ROT follows a group of six high school friends who celebrate their 10 year reunion by renting a secluded hunting cabin. However, the party ends abruptly as several members of the group go missing. As the night progresses, a secret is uncovered which reveals one of the most controversial twist endings in cinematic history.
Beautifully shot on High Definition "ROT: REUNION OF TERROR" redefines the slasher genre through sheer brutality, audacious storytelling and an imaginative visual style. No horror feature has ever dealt with a controversial subject matter in this capacity.

"ROT: REUNION OF TERROR" sold to DVD!!!!!
Wow. It seems like it took FOREVER...but, finally, "ROT" will be available in stores everywhere toward the end of the year!!
A special edition DVD is being released that includes a commentary, multiple making of featurettes, blooper reel, deleted scenes, music video and more!
Please stay tuned for updates, as I'm awaiting to hear a release date from our distributor. The movie is currently finishing up a re-master from a 1080 source - so it should look great in a 16x9 transfer enhanced for HD tv's.
Again, MANY MANY thanks to those of you who have hung in there, waiting and waiting to see the film. You guys rock!
For those of you who haven't been following along, and are interested...Here's some quotes for critics on the film:
"Really atmospheric...suspenseful and nerve wracking. ("ROT") is quite a shocker. I'm not sure we've ever seen an ending like this before. Horror is a tricky animal to tame...it has some of the harshest critics of any genre...Not many can say they did it well. The folks behind "ROT" certainly can." -Pop Culture Beast
"(ROT) is well done...nice twists, gore, and a little girl on girl action. Well written...keeps you on your toes. I'd definitely keep your eye out for this one". -Horror Reviews
"Suspenseful and shocking...The ending to REUNION OF TERROR is very original. That's all I'm going to tell you, as I really want you to see this film. -Film Arcade
"A mysterious slasher film designed to confuse the watcher and make them think twice about the plot and details...Unexpectedly great cinematography....the twists in the end were startling...(ROT is) a movie that would be easy to watch more than once while it's on your shelf". - Horror-Web
"I haven't felt as unnerved as this in years. There's a thick slab of suspense waiting for viewers...The mystery of the killer is so well scripted that...I couldn't leave my seat because I didn't want to miss a clue. If we had to sum up this film in three words they would be 'mood, mood, mood'. I fully encourage horror fans to give this one a shot." -Killer Reviews
"ROT: REUNION OF TERROR is essentially a slasher flick, but it is indeed one of a different breed. It has all the things you'd expect in a slasher effort, but before it's all over, it's one with a clever blend of psychological Horror as well. I'll be honest, I didn't quite know what to expect with this film, but I was pleasantly surprised when I received a film that is as well crafted in all aspects as ROT: REUNION OF TERROR is...Not your typical run of the mill indie Horror, there was actually some thought involved." -Terror Hook
"ROT: REUNION OF TERROR is a winner. The film advertises a very controversial ending - and it is...(director Michael A. Hoffman) does a lot with a little and delivers all the way around. I really enjoyed ROT and highly recommend it. -Scared Stiff Reviews

2009 - Busy Much????!!!! - 02/28/2009
Hey everyone! I KNOW I've been sparse on Myspace here for the past months (sorry if I haven't PM'd some of you in a while)...But I've literally been busier than ever! I do hope this post gets us all up to speed (please feel free to respond either here or by email/private message).
First off, I'm in the midst of recovering from a night out (it was my 28th birthday yesterday - photos here), and my friends all celebrated the event by making sure I was as hammered as possible (we went drinking at a local Irish pub - and I'll be the first to admit that whiskey shots kick my ass).
On the work front... After doing a green screen shoot to compliment some Vegas footage I got in January (Vegas photos here; green screen shoot here),
I then production managed/data managed/performed janitorial services on the 2009 St. Louis Cardinals commercials (which was a blast). After doing the job last year, I was re-hired (always a good sign - LOL) and had the opportunity to again use my Florida crew. I love when this happens because I get to work with folks I barely get to see. Added into this year's mix were Pete Duggan (who did all the folies on ROT: Reunion of Terror), Ryan Copt (who scored a majority of ROT), Matt Schueler (who PA'd the pick-ups on ROT) and our gaffer Travis Bell's replacement (who couldn't make the shoot - BUT - did light the pick-ups on ROT!!!). You could say it was a ROT post production/pick-ups reunion (only this time with MUCH LESS terror)! I threw some photos up here, but - let me warn you - I couldn't get the good stuff. My editing/data management station was in the Cardinal's locker room on the 2nd day and, well...let's just say there were more than a few uncomfortable moments throughout the morning. LOL.
On the film front; ROT: REUNION OF TERROR will be available for all of you to see (yea! - finally!!!!). If you missed it's On Demand/Pay Per View run (which ends today) on TV; good news. It was carried over into a 5 year contract for internet Pay TV. Which means you all can see it - at your won convenience. Also going with it is Spring Break Massacre (which I'm sure many of you are dying to see). Disruptive Media signed the contract last week, and I'll keep you up to date on the details as soon as I get them.
Of course, a domestic DVD release of ROT would be nice (even "Spring Break" is coming out in a few in Germany - with Blu Ray(!) a heavy possibility). Unfortunately, the offers so far to Disruptive Media (from various distributors) led them to believe that the net is the best way to go for now. I just want to add - NO WORRIES EVERYONE. I have put together a BUNCH of special features for the DVD (making of featurettes, a true Dolby Digital 5.1 audio mix, photo gallery, music video, commentary, etc.) - so; when it does (finally) get stamped to disk - it'll be loaded. We are still speaking with many distributors. I'll let you all know the outcome.
And, finally - a happy 2009 to everyone out there! Hoping the year is going as well as it possibly can for all of you - and the economy isn't hitting you square in the jaw (like so many in the entertainment business).
Oh - and, in case you're interested - the live D_Comp live stuff is going up soon. There's a 2 minute sneak peak below, that's awaiting approval from the band before the full edit goes up (this song is from ROT): "Dying Light" live... from Michael A. Hoffman on Vimeo.
Thanks for reading and PLEASE stay in touch!!!

Back from Vegas and L.A. - 11/12/2008
Wow. Work has been non-stop. Sorry if I haven't been on Myspace that much as of late - but we DO check all our messages!!! First off; a quick update. Just got back from filming SEMA for MWW and Bongiovi (photos here), in pre-pro on another music video, directed a commercial (up SOON) and have been on-lining tons of advertising material for Bongiovi Media and Technology.
Also; our company has been busier than ever. Just got a sound/music contract for an upcoming THEATRICAL DOCUMENTARY FILM (with MAJOR names attached), plus we're even going over the possabilities of producing a television pilot! Make sure you check out our website located here, to browse past, current and future projects; as well as see client lists and reels.
Finally; while in Santa Monica I had time to meet with the television distributors on ROT: REUNION OF TERROR (BRI Releasing). It looks as if ROT is having a Pay Per View run starting this December!!! I'll put up all the details as soon as I have them.
As always; thanks for the luv and support; and make sure to have a safe, successful and happy holiday season.
