Promoting the work of both experienced and new writers from diverse backgrounds. Most of all, we like good writing and good music! We're both art and cinema fans.
Music
It is important to RE:Verberate that we have original compositions played alongside, or to cover the intervals, of these nights. Acoustic acts, and great singers are very important to us. on a personal level, our tastes range from Amy Winehouse and Jane's Addiction, to Regina Spektor and folk music.
Movies
Arty movies like Happiness, Irreversible, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, A Clockwork Orange, The Science of Sleep, Hard Candy, Perfume, Little Children, Sin City, Secretary, Donnie Darko, Office Space, Little Miss Sunshine, Amelie, Brotherhood of the Wolf, La vie en Rose, The War on Democracy, Sybil...the list could go on for hours.
Television
No soaps....Bad BAD soaps!
Books
Everything from Slaughterhouse 5 and Girlfriend in a Coma, to Farewell to Arms, Clockwork Orange, The Bell Jar and graphic novels.
Heroes
Catherine's heroes....Vladimir Nabokov, Nick Drake, Prince, Martin Amis, Edgar Allen Poe, Plath, all good writers who have omething to say and a special way of conveying that message.
RE:Verberate is Manchester's much loved lit organisation, running events and readings in the city across a number of different venues - we cannot be pinned down!
Who I'd like to meet: Writers, poets, fans of the transmission of the written and spoken word. Musicians are welcome to contact us, but not bands, as the performance space is small, and we are unlikely to play rock or EMO music at such a night - it just doesn't fit with the atmos. Sorry:-) We'd love to hear from other literary organisations and publishers both large and small, as well as web addicts.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
