I help review the top climate stories of the past year on The Weather Channel's show "The Climate Code".

Author and New York Times reporter Andy Revkin speaks to New Haven school children about his book "The North Pole Was Here."
NORTH POLE ICE CRACKING (global warming, Arctic climate change, global warming)
The sea ice at the North Pole is only a few feet thick. It floats on an ocean that is 14,000 feet deep. And it's cracking under the feet of global warming scientists. An expert suggests what to do... Everything you hear -- all the chugging and huffing and banging -- is the ice beneath us.

THE BURNING SEASON, HBO, 1994, based on my book on Chico Mendes (same title). Winner of three Golden Globes and two Emmys. Starring Raul Julia.
ROCK STAR, Warner Brothers, 2001, based on a New York Times profile I wrote on the Ohio tribute-band singer who rose to replace the heavy metal rock star he mimicked and idolized. Starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston.

About me: I'm a reporter for THE NEW YORK TIMES, covering global environmental issues and, once in a sad while, calamities (9/11, Hurricane Katrina, the Asian tsunami). I'm also an author of books on the AMAZON, GLOBAL WARMING, and the NORTH POLE. In spare moments, I'm a performing songwriter and part of a fun retro-rootsy band called UNCLE WADE (www.myspace.com/unclewade).
I live in New York's Hudson River Valley with my wife (a middle-school science teacher) and two sons (8 and 16). My passions are music, family, and the truth.
I write about music once in awhile. One story, on a tribute-band singer who replaced the lead singer of Judas Priest in 1997, was the basis for the movie ROCK STAR, starring Mark Wahlberg & Jennifer Aniston.

Not only does Barack Obama promote great environmental ideas and positions, he inspires people to take action, which is truly needed if we are going to defeat global warming. Obama also has the best chance of beating McCain, giving environmentalists the best hope for change! That‘s why PURPOSE endorses Obama for Presidnet. Check out our blog to learn more about Obama’s environmental positions and the details why we made the charismatic leader from Illinois our choice.
