Bio
FAMOUS UNDERGROUND The members of Toronto hard rock band Famous Underground is led by vocalist Nick Walsh and bassist Laurie-Anne Green — both come from the same school of rock, but also share the same socio-political views and business drive which led them to form Babylon Music Group, an independent company to promote Famous Underground. They have never strayed from their life-long dedication to hard rock music and lock the power and energy into 4-minute songs that have great hooks. Famous Underground's sound and music is edgy, melodic and hooky bringing a paradigm shift to the arena of rock. It's been said, that they have created something fresh and exciting in an otherwise stagnated genre. With the conclusion that no-one has definitive comparisons, Carl Begai writer with elite hard rock/metal magazine BW&BK describes the new recording as "it's a darker if-Metallica-were-Guns-N-Roses direction with this brand new album." FAMOUS UNDERGROUND's debut self-titled studio release consists of 11 tracks produced by Nick Walsh and mixed by Darius Szczepaniak (Sum 41, Black Crowes, Big Sugar, Sacrifice) at Rouge Valley Studio in Toronto. The new recording takes Walsh's writing to a more defined state where the lyrics delve more into the complexities of the real world. The lead-off track, an edgy melodic track called "Wasteland," stemmed from the American government's inaction to Hurricane Katrina and evolved into his view about the apathetic Bush administration, while the heavier and darker "Hell To Pay" was inspired by Al Gore's environmental exposé, An Inconvenient Truth. The first single 'Dead Weight' is a melodic romp that takes you on a trip with a positive anthemic message that pertains to everyone. The song is a wakeup call for people to realize that they have the power to shed negativity from their lives. The listener will be left with an uplifting feeling of strength and independence. As with most of Famous Underground's material, they set out to create an awareness that everyone has the power to better themselves, the environment and the world around them. These musicians have independently garnered critical acclaim supporting such acts as Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Kid Rock, Black Sabbath, Billy Talent, Yngwie Malmsteen, April Wine and many other international acts. -
