Revolving Doris was a British alternative folk duo whose quirky and diverse music took in celtic harp, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, dulcimer and anything else they found lying around, often in combination with virtual instruments. Their music has been described by ARfm radio presenter Paul Baker as Canterbury Folk Prog Electronic.
Revolving Doris consisted of singer/multi-instrumentalist Rebsie Fairholm and songwriter/multi-instrumentalist William Shaw, who met over the internet and produced their music online. In addition to their own original songs they dragged a few British traditional songs into the 21st century. Their music is wide-ranging and takes a step away from the ordinary by centring around mandolins rather than guitars, and setting traditional acoustic instruments alongside modern synth elements. Rebsie has a dark and ethereal voice which has been compared to Vashti Bunyan, Mimi Farina and a lower-pitched Kate Bush.
Revolving Doris is no longer a going concern, and this page is only sporadically maintained. A few copies of our limited edition EP "Imber" are still available, now distributed by Sonic Spongecake. Rebsie is pursuing a solo project.

If you feature yourself on the site, by submitting your demos, biop and photos, via the contacts page. This is a new concept and we already have 2 more stns being prepped to take the broadcast right across London and north Kent.

Hi there Revolving Doris, just dropping you a line to let you know that your lovely song "Round Window" has been included in this months Acousticshack show because we really like it and think that more people deserve to hear it. To hear this months show go to www.Acousticshack.co.uk We recommend downloading the whole show and burning it to CD, it makes a great compilation.
The pleasure is all ours Nick & Gaff
El Dia is fantastic and very good in light of the photo in the player! I'm glad to hear some new stuff.
Round Window, I had to download immediately so I could hear it forever. Great track. beautiful and fantastic! Do you mean for it to be downloadable?
hee hee, cuz I got it!
Leaf blower demo is great as well and I can't tell you how many vocal sessions have to suddenly end o'er my house cuz of the neighbour's gardener suddenly trimming the hedges. That bloody bastard comes twiceweekly!
It's doing my head in as well! Sometimes you can hear it on the backing vocals on our music if you listen very closely. Either that or the Los Angeles news helicopters which are constantly circling overhead like vultures in case there is any juicy news item to be spied.
Any road, great music and I look forward to the "Forthcoming Album"
Quirky, eh? Perhaps in the sense someone like, say, Roy Wood was, back in the day. Inventive, and original, for sure. Subversive, definitely. But this set explodes with great ideas come together perfectly. I love this stuff. I also love how the music of The Man Next Door belies what lurks in the lyrics. Hmm... Maybe quirky is an apt description, there! At any rate, this is extremely impressive music, and I will command my legions to buy your record. We humbly thank Revolving Doris for the generous add - Richard, Earthlings - Kalimba music from a different direction...
