Adam and Nick met in Aviano AB, Italy. Started many bands that fell through. They were just starting out as musicians at that time in 2001. Adam and Nick jammed together with just vocals and guitar, no bass, no drums...no band. They soon met a bass player, Bob, who would join them in 2002. With the trio desperately looking for drummers they jammed together and got some basic songs down. Dan, an awesome drummer and friend of Adam's basically felt sorry for the trio and wanted to lay down some beats for the songs, joined the band in 2002. They were all sitting around bored one day and the movie Empire Records was on TV. Without a band name at the time, Adam jokingly suggested the band name be Rex Manning Day. For some reason a lot of people liked the name and it kind of stuck, so Rex Manning Day was born. They laid down some tracks and goofed off and made their first self produced album "Hope for an Unstable Tomorrow". Later that year, Dan got stationed in Florida. So Nick ended up meeting a dude by the name of Trip in a bar who could play drums. Drunk off his ass, Trip agreed to play drums for the band. The four practiced the early RMD songs and created 4 new ones. Time was a factor for the band since Trip was getting deployed and Adam was getting out of Italy and going home to the states. They recorded the 4 songs and added a remix of a song on the earlier album to produce an EP called "The Second Coming EP".They even got to play to a very large crowd at a Halloween/Mardi gras party in that fast paced time. After Adam and Trip left they were disbanded. In 2003 Nick got stationed in the same state as Adam. By then Adam had joined a band called Stealth Mode. Nick ended up forming a band called Corporate Shafting. The two bands ended up playing a show in Baltimore. Adam and Nick drank and talked about old times and missing the Rex days. Well things fell through for Adam in Stealth Mode and around the same time it fell through for Nick and his band. Well, the two decided to try and reform RMD back together as Bob ended up getting stationed in Utah. Nick found a drummer where he lived, by the name of Ben. Since we all lived far away, there wasn't much time for practicing but they all laid down some demo tracks of a brand new sound for RMD. Once again, drummer problems in 2004. Ben leaves the band to persue his guitar playing skill. Soon after Bob could not be contacted, but recently he resurfaced and decided to persue his teaching career in Texas (We all wish him the best). Nick once again auditioned drummers. He found a couple of dudes that jammed with us, but things just don't seem to work out for us. Right now we want to have fun, play music, put on kick ass shows and record and produce our own albums. We do not like to try and categorize our music since there is a wide variety of genres out there today. We've classified our sound on Myspace as Rock/Alternative/punk because those were the influences for this music. Many people will have their own opinon of classifying us anyway. The band hopes that at least a few of you enjoy the music. Ben returned for a short time and recorded drums for our new album. Adam's cousin Ike (formerly of Disenfranchised Youth, currently in SleepFeeder) layed down some bass tracks for a few of the songs. An awesome lead guitarist, Chris Naish did some lead work on some songs. The other bass tracks are done by Nick. The album "Thirteen Roses, Dead" is finally complete. It has taken a long time and we are very happy with the results. The album has 17 tracks which includes a bonus "comedy song" track at the end. RMD is pretty much done. We'll never do another album like we've done in the past. There is a possibility that Nick and Adam will be practicing some acoustic material to be later recorded on an upcoming album, whether it will be under the Rex Manning Day name is still undetermined. Thank you's go out to family, friends, loved ones, fans, influences, other bands we've jammed with and anyone who has supported us over the years. Thank you so much for listening and spreading the word!
We're out. LaterZ.
