Rex Riddem is a Washington DC based DJ, producer, and percussionist known for his ability to traverse local and time through his eclectic knowledge of music. With over 15 years experience in the industry, Rex has played clubs and concert halls throughout the U.S. as well as across the globe. He has spread his mix of classic mash-ups, ragga breaks, latin funk, and electro to Brasil, Russia, Portugal, Hawaii, St. John, Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, NYC, Miami, Austin, LA, Las Vegas where he had an eight month residency at Mandalay Bay and various other cities throughout the U.S.
As a producer, Rex Riddem, Has released music on Fort Knox Recordings. His songs have been licensed to prominent compilations, such as Brazilecto 7 (Audiopharm), The New Gold Standard (Fort Knox), Frequent Flyer Havana (Kinkysweet), and SuperNaturalFunkyMystic 4 (United Recordings). Riddem remixed Quincy Jointz of Timewarp music in Greece. He was also executive producer of “In Love and Light” by Holmes Ives (OVA Records).
As a percussionist, Rex has performed and recorded with Afrika Bambaataa (Zulu Nation), Thunderball (ESL), Fort Knox Five, Holmes Ives, Randal Jones, Jette Ives (OVA), and Ave To.
Currently Rex Riddem is recording and producing his for his band Nappy Riddem, a ragga-psychedelic funk project on Fort Knox Recordings. NR is comprised of Rex Riddem, Fort Knox Five & Thunderball vocalist Mustafa Akbar, and Thievery Corporation Bassist Ashish ‘Hash’ Vyas. Their upcoming album will have guest appearances by Asheru, of the Unspoken Heard and Boondocks theme song, as well as guitarist Rob “International Velvet” Myers, who also plays with Thievery Corporation, See-I and Fort Knox Five.
