Pittsburgh, PA 15203 contact@greyareaprod.com 412-381-6811 FOR ALL CONCERT INFO, TICKETS, FULL EVENT LIST: www.GREYAREAPROD.COM Grey Area Productions is a full service concert promotion and production company based @ The Rex Theater, in Pittsburgh PA. Established in 1905 as a vaudeville house, the Rex has had a rich and varied history on the historic South Side of downtown Pittsburgh. Converted into a one screen neighborhood theater in the late 20’s, the Rex thrived until the late 60’s when the advent of the multiplex sped the demise of the neighborhood theater. The building was then converted into a popcorn factory and later a barber’s college, only to become dormant again in the early 80’s. In 1989, a local entrepreneur recreated the space as the new Rex Theater; which showed second and third run Hollywood films for a decade, bringing the experience of the neighborhood theater back to the South Side. In 2001 a local musician, Chris Theoret, reinvented the Rex Theater as one of the finest showcase spaces for national touring acts and the best in local music. In recent history alone, Grey Area & The Rex have presented artists including Juan DeMarcos & The Afro Cuban Allstars, Little Feat, Soulive, Trombone Shorty, Kris Kristofferson, SOJA, Dieselboy, Borgore, Jackie Greene, Andy McKee, Jonathan Coulton, Bill Frisell, Dar Williams, Ani Difranco, The Clarks, EOTO, UFO, Yard Dogs Road Show, among many others. The theater also continues to host numerous theatrical, vaudeville, bellydance, and burlesque shows. In 2009, The Rex received a full renovation and repainting, new top-shelf sound and lighting, and new management. The lobby area features art by local artist John Ross, who also worked on the venue's new interior design.
